Good evening. Today, I would like to share another collection, a crystallized dinosaur egg. It’s from China. When you use a torch to illuminate inside, you will see a shining picture. If you played a game call Monster Hunter, you will know the feeling. Hope you all enjoy it. Thank you.

Hey all, I am new so forgive me if I am doing this wrong. I guy gave me this and said he found it in Putman county Indiana ( central, western part of state) I cleaned it up and found this. I thought maybe some kind of corral at first but then realized that it is all sand, and some crystals like salt crystals. I broke a small piece of and crushed it pure sand and little crystals. Never seen a fulgurite that looks like this. So maybe just sand glue together? Also has a shine to it, like it glistens in some areas. Thx for any help!

Had time after a good rain for round two in my green belt. Since I have a better idea of what to look for I definitely found more. some I know, and some I don’t. I am happy to take close ups or videos if you want/need a closer look. Also, wanted to mention I am waiting on a copy of “A Field Guide to Fossils of Texas” by: C. Finley. thank for your time

According to the owner/ seller, he showed his fossils from somewhere. And he marked them as the Phalanges of Spinosaurus and the Phalanges of Carcharodontosaurus. My question is, how do he classify them? For me, they are totally same. Would you share the knowledge about this part to me, please? Thank you. The pictures are following, Phalanges of Spinosaurus Phalanges of Carcharodontosaurus

Hi! I'm Christine and I'm new to the group! How is everyone? & What type of species is this? I know it's a reptilian genome, but I cannot identify exactly what species it is. It may be extinct. It reminds me of the Komodo dragon but that's not it... It seems like a snake, but it has flare on the bottom of the mouth. I cannot place it. I believe it's extinct. I cannot find it anywhere online. I found it in Sparta NC, in my own backyard with hundreds of others . Mostly petrified snake heads and other flying fish-snakes/ fish eels, and snake heads, etc that are long extinct. Anyone know? I've also got petrified gold found all over with pyrite and quarts, but I also have petrified fingers (10 found) that some are in perfect form and mostly turned to gold .... So as to describe the area... it was all found on my Mountain in the Blue Ridge in NE North Carolina. Any guesses? pan widgepan widget

I found this petrified snake/reptile head in North Carolina. I have this one and many others from my back yard. Including a petrified giant, and fingers with fingernails, perfectly preserved.. I know it's a petrified reptile from the petrification of 40 years of saltwater from the great flood. It's species is not in the internet anywhere that I can find, other than other petrified snakes, it's a one of a kind. I'm thinking it's extinct. It's very prominent for snake features and certainly a rock now. What does anyone here think? And I have many more like it. There are these and many others... You can see the neck bone, the black jugular vein, then the arterial iron oxide- Rich returning blood and that's what petrifies to gold. And they are also other species not alive today to our earthly knowledge.... Thoughts?

Real Spinosaur claw or fake?
Cris Tang posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Good afternoon, May I know this claw is fake or not, please? Because the color seems not natural. But I’m not sure about that. So I hope to learn more about it. Thank you so much. -
Very new fossil hunter here. Found this in the Hudson’s Bay Lowlands. Northern Ontario. Embedded in rock. I have no idea what it is. A nut? From my limited knowledge, I believe most of the fossils here are Precambrian?

Double question: two small fossils in a stone and, possible bone?
Sandruski posted a topic in Fossil ID
Good morning! I share with you two findings that, as a rookie, I have collected with great enthusiasm on the beach in Alicante, a mediterranean city in Spain. The first, I think they are two small fossils collected in a small stone. The second, if I'm honest, I think it could be a bone. He was on the shore of the sea, among the stones. To the touch and to the sight, it did not seem like a conventional bone to me, but when I looked closely, I seemed to appreciate that it has an articulation socket area at both ends. I found it curious to say the least and I share it with you so that you can give me your opinion. I don't know if it is a bone that for some reason has reached the sea and has been there until the current has carried it to the coast. The "bone" (let's call it that until you confirm that it's just a stone and I feel like a fool), measures three centimeters. Thank you very much to all of you and excuse me for my mistakes writing in english. -
Stumbled across this large potential fossilized bone on a beach walk today. Any ideas on what animal it could be from? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Shoe in one photo for size reference.

Hey everyone, I have this fossil I found along a beach when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge as to where I found it, other than it was an Ontario provincial park. I suspect it's a fish fin from either the Silurian or Devonian, but I want to get the thoughts of someone who knows more on fauna of this time. Thanks! Ps. There's a little something on the side of the rock that may help with id, it's in the second pic. Looks to me like a part of a plant.

Possible jaw I’d help? and is this a mammal foot or leg bone or just a whale rib bone piece?
AshHendrick posted a topic in Fossil ID
Found these in eastern NC river this weekend and could use some help identifying. It was in an area most likely Yorktown , found among great white teeth, a horse tooth, tilly bones, whale bone and some shell fragments. Lot of reworked material in the gravel. This item looks like the bones of the front of a lower jaw to me but these holes off to the sides confuse me - they are rounded inside like a tooth or tusk might have sat in them but the angles are odd - I could be wishful thinking here - just seemed out of the ordinary to me. Then the other is a bone it’s much lighter and the pores are much larger than the whale bone typical in the area and I can’t get the best photo of contours but it really looks similar to a foot or leg bone of a mammal I just don’t know what - but I’ll accept it could just be a worn whale rib bone - just gotta be sure, ya know? I don’t ever come across much mammal stuff so I’m struggling to say for sure and any help is appreciated! @bbostick your the main man I know can say if whale or not if you don’t mind sharing input!- 4 replies

2022-09-17 ESCONI Field Trip to a Spoil Pile Near Danville, IL
stats posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
On September 17th, 2022, ESCONI held a field trip to a coal mine spoil pile near Danville, IL. It was a fairly hot day with temperatures in the upper 80's. However, it was a productive field trip. There had been quite a bit of work on the hill this summer and it was looking quite different from the spring. The road to the top went around from the left instead of the right. There weren't as many exposed fossils in "Red Dog" found this time, but concretions were readily available for collecting. There were a few Forum members present. @deutscheben @connorp I'm sure I'm forgetting a few, please announce yourself! Here are some photos of the trip. Some of the photos were taken with a drone. I need to take some more photos of fossils, so stay tuned... I'll post concretions if/when they open. There was a bunch of poison ivy all around outside of the hill. Mushrooms were plentiful. And, of course fossils!
