I found a few more pieces I wasn’t totally sure about. All came from Tunkhannock, Pa in a mountainous area. All three of these have me stumped. Thanks for the help in advance! First one:

Is this Ichthyosaurus real?
indominus rex posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I recently found a guy who has offered to sell me this complete Ichthyosaurus and a Keichousaurus and I was wondering if you guys see any Red Flags. It’s from China but he didn’t specify. I don’t see anything too obvious but I wanted some of your guys’s thoughts. Regards, indominus rex- 53 replies

The first two pics are of a fossil I found w/ a front and back view. I found them in a fossil bed in the Oquirrh Mts. (Ut) There's a lot of trace fossils on this one, so it may be impossible to id them all. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. The 3rd & 4th pictures are of a similar fossil found in the same fossil bed w/ a front and a back view as well.

I stumbled across this green river formation association piece. It's got a leaf, a huge coprolite (not in this photo) and what was labeled as a Knightia. Problem is I'm 99% sure this is not a Knightia! Look at the caudal fin, the dorsal fin, and the skull.....to me this looks like an Amphiplaga!

So I've had this fossil for a while but have never been able to identify it. I got it from a zoo who unfortunately didn't know where it came from of what it came from. Due to the fact that it was donated. So does that mean it's impossible to identify...? Thanks for any help!

I'm wondering if this is a fossilized bone or just an odd rock I found in the Oquirrh Mountains in Utah? It has a unique convex and concave surface pattern in some areas. The red and white parts of the rock have different textures; the white is very rigid and rough. All the pictures are of the same rock at differing angles. Please share your ideas, thanks!

I'm still brand new here, and hoping that help from the ID posts will get me moving in the right direction. We have so many fossils here in Cincinnati and the outlying regions.. Thank you for helping!

I found this neat enchodus tail online for not much $. I'm fairly certain it's real, but I'm posting this in the Is It Real? Forum because I feel like this may be a composit. I drew a line where I think two pieces were composited to form a complete tail. Any ideas? The piece is 7 x 8 inches.

I was in a stream bed near Killeen tx today when I found this. I thought it was a bone fragment from recent origins until i picked it up. When I did I found it was clearly fossilized. What the heck did I find?

I’ve been super excited to finally find my own marine reptile fossil and today i’ve done just that and i’m chuffed! Found this near Whitby in Yorkshire. Low tide was at about 6pm so I was waiting for the water to go out so I could get round. Lucky I was the first person. The vert is very waterworn and damaged, but Im not bothered. I’ve had my eye out for awhile and am very happy to find one, hopefully the first of many..

Dear All, I would like to visit some Fossil shows/fairs together with my son in Europe. I’m from the Netherlands so unfortunately we have to cross the border for these. Through these shows I would like to get more knowledge on fossils and eventually buy some nice items. Any recommendations on which one(s) to visit? For example; Kölner Edelsteintage Cologne is upcoming in September. Any experiences on this show? Thank you, Marc

I have several fossils like the one shown here. My collection is approx 300-350 years old, Cahaba River Valley, central Alabama, carboniferous. The size is about the same as a shoe sole. Any idea what it is? Leave comment if more info is needed.

Im wondering if its even possible to get species information on this one. Part of the estate that I have posted other fossils from. Possibly at least an i.d on what bone this is anatomically would be better than the information I have now. Written on the fossil says "Utah, Jurassic". Those are your clues. Weight: 2.5 kg Length: 7 inch Width: 5.75 in

I think this is, or WAS a Calymene trilobite. Damaged due to bad prep & poor workmanship. A few grooves on the back that shouldn't be there & I think some of it is missing, but it was cheap. No idea where it came from exactly. Cheap labor equals cheap fossils I guess.

Hello, I'm new to this site and I don't know much about fossils. I have searched some trying to figure out what this rock is but have found nothing quite like it. If anyone can help me identify this I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello! I'm from Brazil, South America, and live by a beach. I like to walk around the rocks since there are lots of different rocks, and if i start to climb, the "grassy" area is full of sedimentary rocks. I've found this stone, dropped it, it didn't broke in half like other stones do, it released some type of shell (there are 3 pieces on the photos) and showed something like a "inner stone". I know that it's probably nothing since i don't know much about rocks and fossils, but who knows. I never found other rock with this "double layer" here. Thanks for your time!

What dinosaurs fossils are found in Dockum Formation ?

I just bought 3 shark teeth from the gift shop in our local museum earlier today. No idea where they're from or if they're even fossils. But for $2.16 US each, not really a major issue if they aren't fossils. Tooth 1 is 1.5 inches long x 1.25 inches wide, tooth 2 is 1.75 inches long x 1.5 inches wide & tooth 3 is 1.5 inches long x just shy of 1.5 inches wide. Tooth 2 has a few hairs stuck to the back of the root area, so I guess we could maybe get DNA if they're fake. Each has both front & back views. Looks like you can see part way through the enamel of tooth 1. Go easy on me if I got ripped off for $6.48
