Hello! I found this rock along the trail at the bottom of the canyon in Whirlpool State Park, NY, along the Niagara River. Very curious to know what the fossils might be. The rock was in a pile of recently fallen shale from the side of the canyon. I was tempted to keep it, but left it there for others to find and enjoy! Thanks for your help!

A guy at the gem and fossil show had a bunch of these for sale. Looks like only a painting to me and no fossil at all. Am I correct is it all just drawn on or is there any fossil there.

I found this little piece (about 1 1/2") on the beach of the Dunedin Causeway, Florida. It resembles petrified wood but what would it being doing on the beach? It has a woody texture and is mainly white with a grey or charcoal flat surface with crystalline on the flip side. Can you help ID this please? Thank you!

Hello all, I'm once again asking for help in identifying an object I found. I have no idea what this is, it was found in Buchanan county Iowa, in an old quarry exposing Devonian aged material. It seems to have quartz on the bottom side (as far as I'm able to tell but I still have a lot to learn about rocks). It almost resembles shell material to me but maybe it's some kind of concretion or something. Hopefully someone has seen something like this, thanks for your help and time!

Like many times I put aside what im working on for one reason or another and then pick up another project and start prepping again. I put in about 6 hours into this concretion from New Zealand. I started by digging a hole cause I could not 'read' the rock and got lucky and hit carapace. but then I could see just how calcited it was! Holy cow!!! This is the absolute worst calcited crab ive ever run into,, bar none!!! Even calcite under parts of the shell material!!! Just a freakin nightmare!!! The thing is, I payed $200 for this dang thing plus about $70 for shipping so ive got to finish it and see how it turns out? Im scared! Not happy with this one at all! Could be a cool crab, but soooooooo many hours to find out? My wife told me that if I didnt have any 'bad' ones then the good one wouldn't seem so good? Not sure about that. Gots a long ways to go, but tomorrow my hands will be very stiff. A rather large rock and lots of pushing my Super Jack through this rock. Tuff job for sure!!! RB

This is about 1.5" long. It was found in Westchester ny. It seems to have some fossil marks, but the holes make me wonder if it is lava rock. I think meteors are much smoother and heavier, and no fossils.

I found this today in a stream bed and I have no clue as to what it is. It resembles a pine cone but its hard and brittle like a rock. It also has a hollow middle. Any ID help would be appreciated. Thanks. Nic

I have one more that needs to be identified? Also is it real I have looked this up on line but am new to trilobites. I see there are bumps on the eyes and face still need some assistance. Thanks.

Hi everyone. Saw this fossil online being labelled as fish or reptile fossil. Very cool and interesting piece but I can’t really see what It could be... I don’t think it is a fish fossil. It is 22cm and weighs just over 1kg. I have no location... sorry. On the 4th picture there is some kind of bone or scale material, don’t really know... What to you think? Anything helps. My youngest son has been doing some research and has found a trilobite site out in the middle of what I name as 'No where's ville'. Hes going to drag me out there next week. 7 hours of driving, 3 or 4 hours of splittin shale and back home for dinner and bed. Not looking forward to all that driving, but excited to get out and about digging for old bugs. Will update this once we get back. Wish us luck. RB

Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated. I was found in a stream bed in the hell creek formation area in Montana. I it pretty flat on the bottom with shell like material on the top. Its not porous like alot of the other bones I have seen. Any input would be awesome! Thanks!

Hello, I found these 4 bones today. The three on the right were all in fairly close proximity to each other and the bone on the far left was found alone. I am having trouble figuring out if these are modern day bones or dinosaur bones. A few main reasons that lead me to believe they're not modern is the location. I found these at the base of a large hillside within the Hell Creek formation slightly buried in the dirt. This is an area that has produced dinosaur bones in the past. Also it seems to me when I find more modern day bones usually the entire animal itself or other bones can be found nearby (cattle, deer, and etc.). Any ID help would be greatly appreciated also let me know if I need to provide more detailed pictures. Thanks, Nic

I found this today in east central Montana. I believe it is a dinosaur bone. it has a hole on the one side that goes in about an inch. Thanks in advance for the help! Nic

Hi everyone! I've had quite the month here in Wilmington, NC. After some recent dredging, I've been scouring the beach (often multiple times a day) for any good finds. As far as beach hunting goes, this is by far the most productive month I have ever had, with some of my all-time best teeth coming out of Wilmington. I'm really excited to share some of my finds with you guys. The teeth pictured are only the best ones found from April 20th to May 20th, 2018. There are many more not pictured that did not "make the cut". If anyone has information about any of my teeth or would like an alternate angle of a particular tooth, please reach out! Happy Hunting

I found this little guy that's labeled as a Martinichthys rostrum, its 2.4" long and was retrieved from the Niobrara formation. But I'm not 100% sure on the ID, mainly because I know little to nothing about Niobrara fish (but I'm learning something new every day!). Is this an accurate ID? Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello. I just recently acquired this tooth that is labeled as "Deltadromeus agilis." I've been doing some research on Deltadromeus and what I've determined is it's a very unknown dinosaur. The seller labeled it as a raptor tooth, but so far I've found deltadromeus to be considered a tyrannosaur, ceratosaur, coelosaur, or abelisaur. Which one of these is the most accurate ID of Deltadromeus? Any help would be great!

Hello everyone I have here a specimen and can’t figure out if it’s just a plain ol’rock but I think it might not be a rock at all. This specimen weighs almost 5lbs it’s original location was found in Carrizo Springs Texas at a drilling rig location. Some helpful info and opinions about what this specimen could be would really be great -Thanks y’all!

Fort worth TX so really new to all this info, ive hunted worked flint my entire life and came across maybe 8 or so nice fossil,s. New piece of property and ive found about 15 really nice pieces and probably 40-60 halves that are broke, over last two days with only about 4 hours total. i know im missing a lot of stuff and time is a factor. i wish i could post more than one pic to show a few. many complete sea shells top and bottom intact, many things that i know are something that ive been picking up. i have many small items that im finding out what they are as i go but its so much and as i say time is a factor. thanks for any tips.

Here is a small crab concretion I found many years ago, probably about 16 or 17 years. This crab you can see the arms of the crab sticking out of the concretion. This crab comes from Oregon and is in some of the hardest rock ive ever delt with!!! I saved this one for my collection just to show an unprepped crab from this local. About 90 miles away, you can find the same species of crab, but in a totally different and much softer rock. Here are pictures of both. These are known as Orbitoplax weaveri and Eocene in age. RB
