Hello, I’m looking to take my family shark tooth hunting in Gainesville, Fl. Where would be a good place for kids and an easier area to explore and dig up lots of cool things? any advice is welcomed. Thank you!

Been at it for about a year now and I try to hit the creeks at least twice/month if I can help it. The "loose" pics are either newer finds that haven't made their way into the display yet, or finds that have their own display. Most of these were rescued from the Gainesville area. Some are from the Peace River & Joshua Creek, as well as Manasota, Caspersen, Venice & Fort Clinch beaches. I was also lucky enough to discover a previously unknown spot VERY close to home, while scouting one day! Dr. Hulbert (w/ UF) confirmed it is a new spot, but was reluctant to check it out as none of my initial finds were extinct species... I have since found horse teeth at that location and can't wait for water levels to go back down!!! Hoping to add a few new species to my collection on my upcoming trip to GMR & one of the Summerville creeks (not sure which one yet but would love to find my first Angi & GW)... the GW in my pics was actually found by my Grandfather in Panama in the 70s! Thanks for looking : )

Headed to Gainesville, FL on Sunday and Need Some Help
ChristopherWay posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
Hello! I’ve been tracking my surrounding areas in the last year finding new spots that yield great things. And I’ve seen several people I’ve met in passing hit Gainesville with great success! I’ve read that there were some newer crack downs on fossil hunting in the city limits and I’m reaching out for any further information or even any local hunters willing to get out and breathe some smooth fresh air this Sunday, December 12th? This may be one of my last hunts for a while due to a beautiful life addition coming up! Ive done plenty of reading up on Hogstown and Rattlesnake but I’d love any local information! thanks a million! here are a few Teeth I picked up the other day here in Panama City Beach with the dredging going on just off shore- 16 replies

Hello everyone,. I'm new to this forum with a current interest in the sharks teeth found in the beautiful creeks throughout Gainesville, FL. A great relaxing hobby. Would like to meet other locals for sharks teeth hunting (and trash pickup). Unrelated to Gainesville however is the best fossil I ever found. A sea biscuit that was found in a field near Green Cove Springs, FL. This property had been previously dredge mined. That was over 15 years ago. Take a look.

Possible Hemipristis Symphseal tooth found in Possum Creek Gainesville?
VAfossilguy posted a topic in Fossil ID
Found this little Hemipristis tooth. Looks like a possible symphseal. Is complete except for a small ding on one side. Has very small ridges on outer side and couple larger points on inside. Very strange looking tooth.- 22 replies

I found this in some gravel that I brought home from one of the creeks in Gainesville, FL. Fairly certain that this is some type of fish mouth plate that measures about 1/2" x 1/4" x 1/8" thick. Is it possible to tell what type of fish it came from?
