Hello, I have found these ammonites a few years ago in Bavaria, Germany. These are found in an area roughly 20km from Solnhofen (Jurassic). I beleave the geological formation in this area is a little older then the formations in Solnhofen but i can't find proof if this. I hope these pics are of enough quality to provide an ID. Regards, Arno

So... The story behind this one is that as we were on our way to Travemûnde, we stopped by this beach/cliff, about 20km north of said town. I think that area is called Brodtener Steilufer. I saw this little concretion and decided to whack that on to another rock, and this little thing popped from there. No single idea what it could be. It is quite fragile (I accidentally brushed almost all material in other half away...). And as it can be seen, small one too. No idea of the age or any other metadata. BUT according to one site, near by is sites where Cretaceous, Silurian and Ordovician material can be found.

Fish-remains from the Carboniferous of the Piesberg quarry, Germany
paleoflor posted a topic in Fossil ID
L.S., Since animal fossils are definitely not my strongsuit, I would like to call upon the incredible collective knowledge here at TFF and ask your help with the identification of the fish remains shown below. This specimen comes from the Westphalian D (Pennsylvanian, Carboniferous) of the Piesberg quarry near Wallenhorst, Germany. The shape of the scales reminds me of images of rhizodont (?) fish scales, but this could very well be a superficial resemblance only... Penny for your thoughts? Kind regards, Tim- 17 replies

Hello! I call myself Sassy PaleoNerd, I am very much interested in Palaeontology. I specialize in Pterosaurs and Jurassic Fossils from Europe. But other stuff isn't outside my realm of Reason I make skeletal reconstructions of mostly pterosaur, but im currently expanding onto more topics, at the time of posting this I am at 103 skeketal reconstructions. Those of you also active on discord might know me from there already. I myself collect Fossils, I posses many from the Posidonia Shale of Holzmaden, and quite a few from Solnhofen. But I always look out for them wherever I go. Below is an example of one of my non-pterosaur reconstructions ^^

Hey everybody! I had an opportunity to visit the Holzmaden area (fantastic museum) and split some rocks at Schieferbruch Kromer in Germany. There were plenty of ammonites and I even managed a few neat belemnite pieces I'm very happy about. But one find has me a bit stumped. It appears to be very thin, and I have the feeling it is some part of an ammonite but I have no clue where it would fit in since it isn't very spirally. The caliper scale for reference is in mm and inches (it's about an inch long). The last 2 photos are at an angle to show some of the relief. If you've got any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them, thanks!

Hello everyone, i hope i'm using the appropriate way to introduce myself here. İf not, please tell me so. My name is Dan, I'm an 18 year old high school student from Germany, from southern Bavaria to be more exact. I am greatly interested in paleontology and I'm planning to study that subject at university after i graduate. İ'm hoping to learn more about fossils and to get in touch with people that share my interest here. I don't really own fossils myself, i only have an ammonite fossil that i got when I was doing an internship in the paleontologic museum in my hometown. Best regards, Dan

A really nice and very rare 2.5 cm long Ceratodus (lungfish) tooth from a triassic "Bonebed" from a quarry in southern Germany (Baden-Württemberg). One of my best finds from there so far -
From the album: Holzmaden
These are four Ichthyosaur paddle bones from the lower Jurassic from the quarry Kromer near Holzmaden. The prep was very difficult because the stone was kinda hard. I gave it up several times but now its finally finished. I hitted the bones a few times so its not the nicest piece. Maybe I will try to prep it from the other side one day. Some more pictures: -

These are four Ichthyosaur paddle bones and another Ichthyosaur bone from the lower Jurassic from the quarry Kromer near Holzmaden. The Ichthyosaur paddle bones are about 5 cm big so not too small. There are also a lot of belemnites on the plate. Because of them the prep work was kinda time intensive. It took about six hours to reveal everything. Here are some more pictures:-
