Real Carcharodontosaurus jaw ?
Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I saw this Carcharodontosaurus jaw on auction today and wondered If its real or fake. Carch jaws seem to be incredibly rare on the market, so I think that many of the ones you see are fake. But this one looks genuine to me. Can someone maybe identify, if its lower or upper jaw? It was found in the Kemkem beds, morocco. Thanks !- 6 replies

Some of the nicer fossils from Morocco that I own. Let's start! - Set of nice spinosaurus teeth. Found in the same tunnel and layer. Only some meters away from eachother. 11 and 10.8 centimeter KemKem group, Morocco - Hainosaurus Boubker jaw pieces (dentary + snout) associated from an adult specimen. Really rare. Sidi Chennane, Oued Zem Morocco - Huge 10.6 centimeter carcharodontosaur crown with neat orane/brown like colors. KemKem group, Morocco - Set of 35 associated Otodus Obliquus teeth. Biggest one measures 8CM. Took a while to find one. El Khourigba, Morocco

Hello, i saw this unidentified reptile jaw from morocco online today. Does anyone know to what it once belonged ? The tooth socket is oval, and the jaw seems to have had a little lip which now had eroded away. So Spinosaurus maybe ?

Real Spinosaurus jaw ?
Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I saw this Spinosaurus jaw for sale today and wondered If its real or fake. It appears to be glued or a bit reconstructed and not very well preserved, but also looks a bit off to me (texture, shape) One small tooth is still in place, and suprisingly, it looks more genuine. But lets hear what you think about it. It was found in the Kemkem beds, morocco. -
Hello, i saw this Spinosaurus bone for sale today and wondered which bone it is, if its still identifyable. It kinda reminds me of a big vertebra fragment tho. It was found in the Kemkem beds, morocco. @Phos_01, because i know you as one of the Spino experts, migth you know the correct bone position and name ?

Hello, i saw this Dinosaur tooth from morocco for sale today and wondered how high the possibilitys for it beeing a Dromeosaur tooth are. It does not look very Carch or Abeli like to me, which is a good sign i guess ? Migth be Noasaurid maybe ? I dont know, but maybe you ! (Sadly this is the only picture of it) I have made a topic on a similar one once too, heres the link to it to compare them. https://www.thefossilforum.com/topic/140729-moroccan-dromeosaur-tooth/#comment-1484146

Hello, Found an online sale of an indet. Raptor claw, see the link below. edit: it is something that somebody else has for sale and I decided not to purchase it. Found it unfair to have it listed here as potential fake without any clear answer. Therefore I deleted the photo’s, best answer is a link to similar fossils, so thats the informative value of this post.

Real root on Spinosaurus tooth ?
Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, i saw this fully rooted Spinosaurus tooth for sale today. The root seems kinda original, but there are some suspicious areas in it. But they do not cover completly around the tooth. Maybe some bad crack filling was done, what happend also visible on this tooth ? Let me know what you think about it ! -

Hello, i have a titanosaurid tooth from a still undescribed species, whith a long root. Does somebody have a picture of a fully rooted one ? Because i dont know what titanosaurid roots look like, and i think, theres something wrong about mine. If a picture will be posted here, and the root looks completly unusual, i'll open a topic in the "Fake" subforum. -
Hello, i saw this big Spinosaurus tooth on auction today and wondered, If the root is real and not a composed one. Obviously, a crack was filled, but thats OK for me, and everything else looks fine to me. The tooth Matches also whith the rooted one, seen in Troodon's guide. So would it be worth trying to get it, or should i stay far away from it ? Found in : Kemkem beds, morocco Sice : 12 cm

Hello, i have this tooth labeled as Elosuchus from morocco. But i am not sure if its really one, could this be Spinosaurus too ? It has clear visible stirrations, but no carina. The cross section is circular. The tip has also an interesting shape, could this be the result of permanent use ? It was found in the Kemkem beds, morocco.

Spinosaurus jaw fake ?
Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, i saw this Spinosaurus jaw on auction today. The tooth seems real, but the jaw looks like it would come straight up out of the mold, where the Sand was placed in. Found in Kemkem beds, morocco Sorry for the random floating fingers, i still dont know why sellers use their hand for measurement. -
Got a new box of mixed KemKem material the other day; plenty of Spino, Carch, small theropod, croc, fish, and other usual suspects, but I can't put a name to this one. I'm fairly sure it's theropod, but since there is so little info available, it's hard to say which one. Anyone recognize this little fella? It's 32mm long by 21.5mm at the widest point; the grid squares are 1"/25.4mm. I can take additional pix if needed. Thanks!

Spinosaurus claw , real or fake ?
Brevicollis posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, I saw this Spinosaurus claw for sale today and it looked "okay" to me . Clean , no matrix , good shape . But the photos are a bit weird : no near photos, photos just from two sides (maybe to hide restorations) . Whats your opinion on it ? It was found in the Kemkem beds, morocco.
