    Fossils in Greece.

Hello there! I am an archeology student living in Greece, who is very interested in the paleontology field. Although we (sciences) have different subject of studying, I would be very interested if I could meet someone// a team who I could go explore fossils with. Our government is very strict when it comes to collecting from the past, so I would be interested in just seeing them and study them. I am not searching for buying or something.
  2. Cavebear

    Hello from Belgium.

Hello to you all, I am already like a fossil since i am absolutely a giant newbie to modern technology and alike. So please have a little patience with this old fellow. I have been collecting since the age of 12, so now some 43 years ago. Mainly whale and sharkteeth since i live below the Antwerp region. So neogene fossils. I have been studying pleistocene mammals for a long time and sometimes digging up mammoth teeth, bones, flint tools and so on. Since childhood however I was fascinated by dinosaurs but at that time little knowledge and fossils were known. I decided i wanted to learn more about them and started to study. This is how i came here. Forgive me writting errors since i speak English quite well but never learned how to write it so I educated myself. With best regards, Me.

    Looks Like A Petrified Clam

Is this a measly clam or is it a mother nature made stone? The more questions I asked, the more knowledge I'll gain

    Howdy from Texas

New guy here, from South Texas, wife an I are fossil outdoorsy people who love exploring. We love geology, geography, Paleo history, native American history and many more. We travel a lot and love taking our practical knowledge and tying it back to book and white paper knowledge in all the above mentioned fields of study. We have land at Terlingua, south Texas and east Texas and are literally those people who stop at a road cut and dog for fossils and read the layers. Look forward to gaining some knowledge here.

    Runswick bay

Ok so I’m interested in how the large structure is formed (the one in three segments). I’m just interested for my own education.. I took it out of a large bolder and it was orientated as it is on the carpet with a long thin piece above it.. At first I hoped it was one large piece however looking at it I’m not that sure I think the piece that scene three segments is just some form of pyrite?? The long finger like piece with the pale end at first I was hoping was bones and then I told myself into the fact it just wasn’t but then I read on this forum that if you stick your tongue on bone it will stick and it does.... Yes I have been licking rocks!! The round pyrite nodule Was dug out of the large piece of shale, a very large piece of shale!!! I almost gave up on it because it just was not going to crack but then a small piece came off and I was left with a very small shiny golden knob so I persevered and then it finally cracked open to leave something that I thought maybe a bellamight?? However it’s fat in the middle which doesn’t seem to seem quite right I would appreciate any help in identifying what that whatever it is??? Maybe coprolite????
  6. Rob in Idaho

    Hello from North Idaho

Hello to all of you! I have been a lurker here for years. Decided it is probably time to become active and start sharing some knowledge and finds, although I will probably learn much more from you folks than you will from me. Looking forward to posting some of my finds and hearing what you all have to say, as I have not been able to identify everything I have and I'm certain some things are not what I think they are! See you on the forums! Rob

    Thank you.

Thank you for having me. I enjoy reading about other members adventures. I spend most of my weekends searching for fossils. I live in Alpharetta, GA. Fellow piedmonters will know, that to do what we love to do, takes some driving. That can be part of the fun. I go it alone. I document, and catalog, what I see and/or collect. If I notice something unusual, or substantial, I consult with professionals, to ensure that I don't end up damaging an important discovery. I don't buy what others have found, or sell what I find. Happy hunting!
