I thought I’d start this thread of any non-Yorkshire ammonites that I find. It might be quite short but here we go. First up is a small Androgynoceras sp. from Charmouth, Dorset, that I found last week. The ammonite is about an inch.

Hi, looking for help on a nodule I picked up at lyme over the weekend, trying to identify nodules is new to me so I was pleased to see something inside this one. I'm hoping someone can confirm what it is likely to be, there's no edge to it and it's not visible anywhere round the nodule. I'm hoping an ammonite but the nodule seems too small, it's a close match to the colour of some partials we found close by but the ribs seem wrong. Some sort of claim seems most likely but I don't know whether that's likely from lyme. Any ideas before I attack it? Thanks

Hi all! I've been really busy creating all these watercolour illustrations based on fossils from the Jurassic Coast. Here we have an Ichthyosaur, a Plesiosaur, an Ammonite, a Scelidosaurus and a Belemnite. There will be a few more to come soon...

I’ve just picked up this watercolour that I’ve had framed. It’s an old painting from 1842, showing a view from an old part of Lyme Regis, looking across to Golden Cap in the distance. The famous fossil collector Mary Anning died in 1847 and would’ve seen this view on a regular basis. She may have witnessed the watercolor being painted or even seen the finished painting. Whatever the history, I love the painting and it’ll be added to my collection.

I’ve been trying to find out what ichthyosaurs are found in Dorset, from the Lyme Regis, but I’m having quite a bit of trouble. I’ve found sites that list the species of different types of animals found at certain locations, but I can’t find anything like that about “Dorset” or “Lyme Regis”. At the moment I’m interested in finding out out the ichthyosaurs, but in the past I’ve looked for the same thing about plesiosaur/pliosaur, and croc species, so that would be great if anyone had information about pretty much any species of reptiles found there. Thanks very much for any and everyone’s time and effort! As always, it’s extremely appreciated!

This kind of tooth surface, with the ridges, isn’t that for the most part, not a common plesiosaur feature? This is from Lyme Regis....what would you all think?

I had a few hours spare and decided to head down to Lyme Regis. Due to the rough weather a few friends had been having some luck so I decided to try mine. Here's what I found

Hello! I have got this nodule from Lyme Regis and was wondering whether this looks like a good nodule to contain a fossil and how you can tell from the outside? Thank you in advance!
