Hello, Found an online sale of an indet. Raptor claw, see the link below. edit: it is something that somebody else has for sale and I decided not to purchase it. Found it unfair to have it listed here as potential fake without any clear answer. Therefore I deleted the photo’s, best answer is a link to similar fossils, so thats the informative value of this post.

Hi everyone, This is first time I create a topic, apologies in advance if any mistakes. I am a newbie into fossils And I have been searching for a long time trying to figure it out some ID for this unidentified fossil bone. I got it some time ago and I would like to know if thanks to the knowledgeable members of the forum it was possible to get a closer ID. I know that getting species on isolated pieces is impossible, but I would be happy to get a group, family or closer genus of the type of animal it could belong to. *Could it be a pterosaur (as it has very thin walls that was my first guess)? Or some other reptile or even a bird? How to differentiate? * Is a radius as per seller description? Or could be a metatarsal, phalanx... It is from the Phosphate mines of Khouribga, which seeing the bit of matrix attached looks true. Internally is completely crystallized with a thin bone wall around. I took some pictures of the section. The only information I got from the seller is the following: - Location: phosphate mines, Khouribga, Morocco. - Age: Late Cretaceous 96-66 MYO - Probably radius - Unidentified species Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts! #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6

Newbie impulse purchase.
Dockster posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Made an impulse buy, and need a critique to use as a learning experience. I believe these fossils are real (prob from Morocco), but I believe they have been placed in an unknown matrix for display. The seller said she believed they were probably excavated this way then material removed for better viewing. I’m asking for any info to expand my knowledge. -

Real or fake mosasaur jaw

Hello, I brought this small bone that was labeled at pterosaur. It’s about 2.6 inches by .27 inches by .15 inches. It was found in the Kem Kem beds and according to the seller, near similar bones and pterosaur teeth. If anyone could confirm that it’s a pterosaur bone that would be great! As always thanks a lot :).

While visiting friends, they showed us a gift they'd received from a relative. I asked if they'd like to know more about their decoration piece and they said yes. I'd be grateful for whatever identification can be provided. It appears Moroccan and, maybe a possible fake? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

These are a couple of mosasaur teeth I recently purchased and had delivered via the post. However, upon opening the package I remembered the labels to each specimen were kept separate in the package. Ordinarily, its easy to match the label to the specimen, but the similarities between the two teeth made this difficult. One is labelled as Eremiasaurus heterodontus, and the other Mosasaurus beaugei. Thanks in advance for any proposed IDs Othniel

Real or fake spinosaurus tooth? (New member)
Maxaurus posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, my name is Max and I will begin collecting fossils. My passion for fossils and especially dinosaurs started when I was a child. I had lots of dinosaur toys, watched a lot of movies and documentations, studied facts about them and felt like a paleontologist with my excavation kits. My fascination for this prehistoric world has never been estinguished. That's why I decided to buy a tooth of a spinosaurus, which is one of my favorites. Before buying I have read some "real or fake"-topics here in the forum but I am still not sure if the tooth I'd like to buy is real, composited from different teeth or even fake. The tooth is very large (15.5cm) thats why I thought it could possibly be composited to increase the size. The selling shop states that the tooth was repaired. Would greatly appreciate any help from you. Thank you. Max -

So Many Fake Spinosaur Claws…How About This One?
Jurassic_Joe posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Okay so just in the short amount of time since I’ve signed up I’ve already learned a lot. Especially how many fabrications come out of Morocco. I had no idea until I did a little bit of digging. With that being said, what’s your opinions on this spinosaur claw? Real? Fake? I think it’s definitely made up from real bone as there is sheen coming off of it. But I can’t tell if it’s been carved or not. My eye has yet to be trained. Even if it’s real I’m still embarrassed that i
