I found this at big Brook in New Jersey last May and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. It is similar to Enchodus teeth and mosasaur material that I have found but much more thick. I believe that it is too narrow to be mosasaur and was wondering if anyone could help me id it, if it is anything at all. It is very worn down and reflective so getting clear pictures of the details was a challenge. I pointed out a ridge in the tooth that was on both sides in one of the pictures that is more visible than can be pictured. edit : Big Brook is mainly Upper Cretaceous material.

Hello again, I have two more specimens that I cannot ID. I suspect the long yellowish rod is a belemnite, but it looks odd. It has a hole on hole side, but no hole on the second side. The small tooth like object is small and is not hollow, could it be a Saber toothed salmon tooth? Thanks, Marco

Hi there, I recent went to Big Brook and found this small and odd looking object. It seems like a fossil, but I cannot identify it. Would appreciate it someone could tell me if it is indeed a fossil or not, and what it is.

Hello! I'm pretty new to fossil hunting and I've been able to ID a few specimens but I'm having trouble with these. The ones here are from a couple trips to Big Brook in NJ. I tried my best to take good photos (when will smartphones come with a macro lens??). 1 looks like it could be a tooth or just a rock 2 seems to be porus (I did the tounge test) 3 looks like a jaw or just a rock 4 seems like it could maybe part of a turtle shell? 5 is definitely a vertebra, but I'm not sure from what 7 seem to be teeth or claws 8 is definitely a tooth but im not sure from what 11, 12, 16 are definitely teeth Thanks for any help

Hi all— On our most recent trip up to the Monmouth Brooks, my husband and I found this small bone fragment in addition to the usual teeth and fossils we typically find there. We can't decide if it's a fossil or modern bone. I read about the burn test on here, and so we tried it. We didn't note any noticeable smell other than heat, but it did cause a small section of the outside to become brittle and flake away (pictured in the last photo). I'm leaning more toward modern bone for that reason, but I just wasn't sure. Any ideas or other methods to identify it? We also don't have any idea what it might be from either way

Some miscellaneous fossils that I found today. The top left one I think is a drumfish plate with a tooth. No idea on others…

Hi all, I've been instructed to introduce myself. So here I am. I've been a casual collector for a few years. Just seeing what interests everyone here and if I might get new interests myself.

Hello everyone, I hope it going well for you! I recently ventured out into the Cretaceous of New Jersey and have come across a fossil that has me stumped. I went along with my friends Roy (not on forum) and @The Jersey Devil and the day was somewhat slow. Other than this interesting find, I think I may have found a partially hadrosaur tooth, but I need to take some better photos of it. The tooth is quite worn. I have included my other finds from the somewhat short trip. My guess for the fossil is fish spine. I hope you enjoy. @non-remanié THE MYSTERY FOSSIL GENERAL FINDS

Several fossils found by my friends and I in Hop Brook we need help IDing, first, perhaps the tip of a crab claw? (graduations on the side are one mm each) the second, bog iron, or the relief of a worm burrow? the third.... uhhh.... I'm not sure, and I being the "expert" of the group, was given it for safe keeping

Found this odd bone fragment on Asbury Park Beach in New Jersey last Saturday. The only thing that comes to mind is a fragment of mammoth skull, but that seems like a bit of wishful thinking. Any thoughts?
