Hi! I'm having trouble ID-ing this ~4.4cm long mammal tooth from China. It was labelled as Playbelodon, though the lack of cusps makes me doubt that assessment. I'm starting to wonder if it's a Proboscidean at all, and if it's an entirely different family of mammal alltogether. Does anyone have an idea on what this could potentially be?

The seller sold several examples in the past. It comes from Guandgond (China). Thanks for your answers. Regards from Spain.

Hello everyone, I obtained this Platybelodon tooth from a fellow collector. I believe it might be of Chinese origin. There is a textured gray object embedded in the root/jaw bone. It seems to be much more solid than the surrounding brittle white bone. Any guesses as to what the gray object may be? Any input is appreciated! Sincerely, Jay

Hey guys, new to the forum but here is my collection focused on proboscidea but I collect other things mainly Oligocene mammal teeth and jaws, I don't have anything titanothere yet though.... also some dinosaur bones like my ceratopian jaw hinge, I've identified all of my fossils are except for the white gomp tooth on the stand, I think it might be Chinese platybelodon. anyways here it is. thanks -Rylawz
