I seen this boulder one day driving down my gravel road & threw my back out getting this bad dude in the truck by myself. Probably weighs a couple hundred pounds or more. It's approximately 2'x2'x2'. I seen the formations barely sticking up above the surface & curiosity got the best of me. I figured if it wasn't anything of interest or value I'd at least get some hands on training in prepping a fossil & the painstaking process involved with exposing it. So can anybody tell from the pics if there's any reason to keep etching away at this bad dude? Also what are these formations if they aren't a fossil? I apologise for the pics in advance it was dark when I took them. I only took pics of the top because that's where I've been doing all the etching.

I've had this for quite some time & I've always just told people it was a fish because you can see what looks like a dorsal fin on top and a tail fin or what's left of it and even texture of the scales. Unless mother nature is getting really good at making pseudo fossils lol I didn't know who to ask since the person I used to turn to when I found something hasn't responded to me in quite some time. (which has actually got me worried) Some of you might have heard of him, a paleontologist named Guy Darrough who knew my mom & dad before I was ever born. So I came across this site & I figured I'd ask some of you about some of my latest finds if that's all right with everybody. I know I'm not educated in this field but I have a passion for hunting this stuff & preserving it before being lost again forever.

Hi, A couple of months ago I found this egg like fossil/stone. Location: Doesburg Holland, most likely Pleistocene deposit layer, exposed due to sand mining The shape is symmetrical, and tapert, with crack lines, and small cracked bits. The outer surface looks layerd and even thickness. Furthermore, it looks like a bone/teeth line is near the surface/is penetrating it. I've attached a series of photos and a 3d model scan. Reference size is 10 eurocent. What do you guys think? Merci Gr J model.mtl model.obj

I found this slab in a central Texas creek bed with steep sandstone banks. The shape of the item in the matrix looked too much like a bone, but the skeptic in me suspects it is a pseudo fossil...maybe even a tree root. Any help figuring out more info. on this specimen is appreciated. Thanks! --PabloInAustin

First off, I have no idea where or when this was found originally. There is a house about 6-7 blocks from my apt that has recently gone up for sale. The people have since moved out. Out in front of the house in the area between the sidewalk & street itself, they (or someone else) had placed a border of railroad ties, then partially filled that with river rock. They then added several larger basalt rocks, quartz clusters, limb casts, small fossils, polished stones & several other stones of various types & sizes. I "rescued" this from there. I mean hey, they moved out & left them all there, so someone should take care of them, right? Anywho, this item is 3.75 inches or 9.5 cm tall x 8.5 inches or 21.5 cm around. Looks interesting to say the least. Seems to be at least partially agatized. I know it's worn, but it can't be helped considering.
