Wondering if you can help me identify these fossils. They are all on the same slab of shell rock in southern colorado, near lake pueblo. The two pieces that look like bone or exoskeleton (approx the length of an adult hand) are on one side and the round object is on the other. The third image is the side of the round object. I took it to show how deep it goes into the rock. There are many mollusk-type shell fossils in the area, but I've never seen fossils like these. Thanks so much for any help you can give.

I recently bought a ranch in Pueblo,Colorado. It has some big drainages going threw it, whare I can see many layers. I've already found tons of shells in almost every rock and one Snell shell. What can I expect to find if I'm lucky?

This was excavated at Baculite Mesa in Pueblo CO a few years ago. We were given a possible identification of it being a fossilized juniper. Any other input or verification would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

This piece was excavated from the Fountain Creek on the north side of Pueblo, CO. It was stockpiled in another area of town and my husband brought it home to me. It is so interesting! I think it is some kind of a fossilized plant from the prehistoric ages. Any ideas out there?

Although I am brand new here, I already have a question. Unfortunately, no photos yet, but I will describe the best I can. I see these things at Lake Pueblo on a regular basis. In the light grey sediment/shale, where i find seashell fossils, I also see small balls (3/4" or so) that look like iron. They have a color like rusted iron. Rough on the outside. Almost perfectly spherical. They discolor the rock that holds it (slightly) around the ball. I have not checked for magnetic characteristics. I cut one open and it seems to have a starburst type pattern on the inside. I heard somewhere that when hot metal (iron) is cooled quickly (possibly when this area was a sea), it may leave that pattern. I also wondered if they are round because they were molten and hit the water, cooled quickly, and sank to the bottom, to the sediment. Does anyone have a general idea of what they may be? I have my uneducated theories...So, if anyone can shed light, it's been driving me nuts. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I have never had a chance to hunt for fossils before but on a recent trip to Pueblo, Colorado my husband and I did some very casual digging at a place popular for finding baculite, and found a few interesting things. I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on what we're looking at. Thanks for any information!
