I recently bought this piece of fossil bone at a bookstore in Tucson AZ. My guess is that someone had originally bought it at the Tucson gem and mineral show and then sold or traded it at the bookstore. I don't know anything about its original geographic origin. I had a friend test it with his Geiger counter and it gives off a fair amount of radiation compared to the background. I thought it maybe could be a plesiosaur fin bone because of the way it flairs out but I honestly have no idea. Any help identifying what species this fossil bone came from would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there! I buy a beautiful megalodon tooth few years ago. Because I am curious I find that it is slightly radioactive ( 0.4µS/hours). I store it in a small showcase with other fossils. I read that fossilized shark teeth are made of apatite that can contain uranium and thorium. IF my tooth contain uranium, is there a risk of radon gaz accumulation in my showcase????? Thank you in advance Nicolas

Hi All, I'm having trouble identifying what I have here. It's from the Upper Carboniferous - Pennsylvanian Stark shale. It is in a phosphorite nodule. Dimensions are 1.5 inch (3.81 cm) long by 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide. Any ideas would be appreciated. Apologies for the green tint - not sure what that is except for maybe the camera picking up the radiation from this shale layer . Thanks,
