  1. I am considering buying this fossil is it real & what is it? the seller said it was Balteurypterus tetragonopthalmus but i cant find anything called that. any ideas of what it actually is?
  2. Hi there everyone! I've recently been acquiring different fossils to add to my collection and I came across a listing for a carcharodontosaurus tooth that really interested me. Below are a few photos of the listing advertising the carcharodontasaurus tooth. The sellers themselves are very reputable and I am in no way questioning their validity as I'm sure the tooth is a real fossil. Instead, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me positively identify the fossil as a carcharodontosaurus tooth as I know many different teeth and fossils come from the Kem Kem Beds in Morocco. The tooth is in pretty rough condition and has been glued together as seen through the middle of the tooth laterally, though it looks to still have most of its enamel and serrations in tact. Despite these quirks, I'm still very interested in adding this tooth to my collection and I would love to know if the tooth is in fact from a carcharodontosaurus or if it is possibly from another animal of that time period. Thank you all!
  3. Bought a "partial Stegodon tooth" a while back. Originally from Indonesia. Does it look legitimate, and does it look like Stegodon at all?
  4. Sorry for a lot of posts recently Cleaning house and have found some in storage Here are all the ones that were found. Any that can be identified + age, and are any fakes? I'm suspicious of the black trilobite I can retake photos if needed, any information would help
  5. I found this old tooth in a box in my house, the tip had snapped off. It said it was 'spinosaur tooth' Is it real, why does it have a strange pattern and if it is real, is it from some kind of spinosaur?
  6. Sorry for another post, hopefully last authenticity check Got some sort of leaf fossil and an ammonite of some kind Are they real, and could I have an ID and age if they are
  7. Trilobite, is it real and an ID I can't see much eye detail but I do not see any air bubbles or anything It's small about 0.75 inches
  8. I know mosasaur jaws are faked but what about the teeth. This one from Morocco have distinctive edges that are causing a red flag in my head
  9. I inherited a fossil and rock collection…. Not labeled or anything! Totally stressful. I have two trilobite fossils. How do I know if it’s real or fake?
  10. I was looking to buy this Keichousaurus fossil, but would like to hear some opinions on if it’s real or fake. Please help.
  11. Hi guys I'm new here! Hope to find everybody well! I just want to ask for your feedback around a specimen of Keichousaurus I'm nearly to buy. What do you think? Does it seems real and legit to you? Many thanks for your kind feedback. Cap
  12. Diplocaulus

    Touched up Walliserops?

Found this crazy walliserops online, but with 4 rostrum prongs instead of 3! Is this 4th prong a complete fabrication, (such as the case for many a Hoplolichoides) or is it just a deformed bug?
  13. I saw this for sale on a well known site. Seller says its a frontal tooth of a Basilosaurus from Dakhla, Morocco, Late Eocene, Should I buy it?
  14. I just purchased these sold as Megaladon teeth. I see some repairs I think. The big one I think is in almost perfect condition. The others seem small so not sure if they are Megaladon or another shark fossil? Any help is appreciated.
  15. I rarely buy fossils and don’t know much about them but I was in a small fossil museum in a village in England called “Robin Hood’s Bay” and I saw this Spinosaurus Tooth for sale and I’m wondering if it is real. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. I am told this is an fossiles egg from dendroolitihus sp. It should be real, but who knows?
  17. Hi there! I'm new to the forum. I recently picked up a mosasaur jaw, my first fossil. Question is it real or fake, I started doing the research after making the purchase.. Comparing it to other examples, it's somewhere in the middle. It doesn't look totally manufactured, but it also kind of looks to good to be true. Opinions?
  18. Hi All, Still pretty new to the fossil ID world. I found this Hollardops online- unfortunate shortage of in-person rock shops where I am. What makes me think it's real is the repaired cracking in the matrix/cheek, the well-detailed eye facets, and general signs of mid-level prep. What has me slightly uncertain are the little knobbies on the cephalon- on real trilobites those are definitely a feature, but from these photos my eye may not be trained enough to tell natural knobs from bubbles. Any input greatly appreciated! Best, Noah
  19. Hi guys! thoughts on this amphibian?? Real? It’s a Czech fossil from the lower Permian. Any thoughts welcome and thanks nick
  20. indominus rex

    Baryonyx vertebra?

Hello, I’m wondering if this is actually a Baryonyx vertebra. It was found in Wealden formation, Sussex England.
  21. I found this tooth that is claimed to be a tyrannosaurus tooth it has a bit of restoration but am not sure if it's specifically a tyrannosaurus tooth so what do you all think? Here's a photo before the resto
  22. Hi everyone ! Is this a real mosasaur jaw with tooth ? Any red flag & restoration & composite ? I hope the pictures are good enough if not I can ask seller for more addition pictures . as always thank you in advance . Guns
  23. Hey all, I stumbled upon this at an attractive price (but not so attractive that it screams reproduction) My concerns are mostly how the enamel meets the root of the tooth. I know the lighting is poor but unfortunately these are the only two photos. Appreciate any input!
  24. Hello all This fossil fish is from an old collection. I think it might be Paraelops sp. from the Santana formation in Brazil, but I'm not certain. I'm also not entirely sure if it's completely original. Anyone who has an idea what species this is, what location it comes from and most importantly, is it real? Thanks in advance
