Needing help identifying what this is.

Hey everyone, just joined the forum to ask for opinions on this item. I was out on my Native American Reservation in Parker, Arizona and walking along the beach of the Colorado River outside of our Casino. I stopped to find some cool stones in the water and came across this thing that I immediately thought resembled a shark tooth. I’m no expert, but things like this tend to pop up out in Arizona. I reached out to a department at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum, seeing as they are only a 20 minute drive from where I live, but I haven’t heard back from them yet. Any thoughts?

I found this yesterday, i was thinking maybe whale with a broken tip. It seems to have little to no enamel left, so it could be a lucky rock, any help? Thanks!

Hi forum, sorry it's me again I was in omhden (DE) about 4 months ago and among the already digged and cracked stones i've found this strange speciment. It's a complete flat surface, very regular with a strange spoon-shaped prominence in the middle. It looks also like it has a scale-shape lucid black piece next to him. I thought this was enough to take it, also considering that i'm not an expert and i know i can ignore a ton of unprepped super pieces also if i grab them by my hands. I don't have any idea if this is just a blank rock or it can hide something good. I need your help to identify it In my unexperienced mind it could be some sort of unprepped .... something? photos are taken in artificial light, i can give you some sunlight photos if you nedd but there is not a lot to see except the shape, i think... there are some ammonite and other small life impressions on the surface, so the layer should have been the correct one to contain fossils Thanks a lot Paolo

We were digging a trench and came across some fossilized coral while digging around there we found this laying in the side of the bank. Is this just a rock, or maybe even a claw

Hi there. My son found this rock and he search it on a Rock Identifier app and said it may be a fossil. It kind of looks like it on the exterior. The rock has broken into peace’s and now he only conserves 3 of them. What looks odd to me is the interior , sounds like a rock though. Hope for some help.

Sorry for posting repeatedly about mineral identification! But I have yet another mineral to identify. There's this deep green, glassy mineral in matrix and I don't know what it is. It probably comes from Africa. Unable to narrow down the location. My first thought was Tsavorite but I saw online a piece of Chrome Dravite that looked exactly like this, including the matrix. It's hard without seeing the formation habit of the crystal. Any ideas?

Could not identify these little pieces myself. Obviously 1 is more of a weird type of rock formation, but I was wondering if anyone knew why it looked like it was made of all those little capsules. 2 is most interesting to me, I honestly have no idea. 3 seems to maybe be a pieces of sediment that got something pressed into it and it hardened as a print? Not sure.

I'm sorry for the blurry pics, I don't have the specimen with me and my mom had to take these pictures. I have this mineral, and am not sure if it's black tourmaline or aegirine. The cross section of aegirine should be square-ish and black tourmaline's should be triangular and bulging. I'm looking at it and I still have no idea. If someone has experience and can separate the two, please let me know. Don't know the location.

Hello Gentlemen, I'm looking for a little help with an ID. I'm 48 and a Kentucky boy. This week I started browsing some creeks looking for arrowheads, it's something I have never done and just wanted to try. I ran into this rock with an organized pattern on it.....appears to be something that is fossil-ish to me. However I don't know much about fossils so you guys see what you think. Any idea how this was formed? was it a rock that had lava flow cover it? That’s what I thought at first. the shape on one side almost looks like a mold. Did the lick test and tongue stuck to the wishbone looking part. Can this be a bone? Any thoughts ? this was found in Northeast Kansas near an area we found some Crinoid and fusulinid fossils.

From time to time, I find these rocks in the river that look like they have many small shells and fragments embedded in them. Unfortunately, mostly what I know is Pleistocene, so it's hard for me to make anything out of them. This one I found a couple of weeks ago seemed particularly busy. Would love it if someone could tell me more. @JohnJ @Jared C

My dad found this rock in the Vermillion River in Illinois last weekend during a camping trip. While my dad insists it's a petrified toe or a toe that was possibly covered in mud then compressed (or something of the like???? I'm not quite sure...), I personally think it's just a rock. Can someone please help officially determine what exactly it is? Thank you! -Abby

Hi! So I know absolutely nothing about fossils, but my dad and I were looking for shark teeth at Fossil Beach in Westmoreland State Park yesterday, and we came up empty handed except for this weird looking rock. At first we thought it was just a rock in the general shape of a shark tooth, but upon closer inspection we noticed that it looks glossy and about the right color in a few spots (especially on one side) and there are some lines in the rock that look sharktooth-esque. It has holes in the top and on the side that are each about a centimeter deep, so we were wondering if it were possible that this is actually a shark tooth, and a rock somehow formed around it? (Please excuse the awful photography lol, I couldn't get a clear side picture without holding it up) The dimensions are about an 1.25 x 1.75 inches btw Thank you so much, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone, I forgot to post this in another post where I asked for a fossil ID. I am posting it now. The last time I went out looking for fossils, I went to a travertine deposit in the canyon near Twin Falls, Idaho. I found an odd rock that looked like a carrot. I also found this there. It’s extremely thin, maybe about 1 to 2 mm thin. I have no idea what it is, or if it’s even a fossil or not. If it is a fossil, what is it? If it’s not a fossil, then I really need to do research and find a new place to look around. I haven’t found any interesting fossils since I moved to near Twin Falls, Idaho. It’s discouraging, actually. Anyway, let me know what you think it is. Jared.

Hi members, Land is being dug and flattened next to my house in Sydney, so thought would take a stroll and see if I get lucky, found this rock and pressed against the layer by hand and this layer easily seperated, seems like it has something but may not be a good example, still wanted to share, thoughts?

Found in North Wales, Bangor middle beach area (partially wet). Not sure if it's even a fossil.
