Hi All. I am looking for suggestions on trimming matrix (hard shale, limestone) from specimens. I have used a tile saw in the past. I am wondering if small hand saws with diamond blades would also be effective. I appreciate the help.

I got bored last night so I came up with this and posted in on FB. I had so much fun doing this that I thought some other folks might get a kick out of it. Ok, i should have been doing my 'kindling' gathering months ago but I did bring home a bunch the last couple of weeks. I get little sticks from the lumber yard stores. They are all 4 feet long and need to be cut into 16 inch lengths but they do make for some very nice and very easy fire starter. All I have to do is take my chop saw and cut them two times. I do it in bunches so it doesnt take much time at all. All I have to do once it get home is get my chopsaw ready. I run out an electrical cord to the saw and plug it in. This saw is the industrial heavy duty multi capability EM3000, 40,000 volt, 2500 amp, self feeding, auto sharpening, free standing, lazor guided, auto glide, free sliding clutch, automatic sprocket locket, self aligning spraket slider, along with the extra springer valve and cut back reducer and with the special pressure cutter release handle. It also comes with two really good safety switches. First one is the No cut off fingers switch and the other is the automatic noise reduction switch. It also comes with the garden compost shootout hoseing that automaticaly puts all the sawdust into your compost pile. Then, when you are ready, all you have to do is take off the upper and lower downturn nut, turn the power slide to the 'slide position', push in the safety switch, adjust your table level, get your elevation equivilent to 3.37 degrees, ajust your cross beams, make sure your blade angle is in its upright position, turn on the power excellerator, ajust your volt degree to either 2.12 to 3.73 depening on what your cutting, and then by golly, your ready to cut.
