Hi all, I found this strange looking rock like object in a creek bed in central west Queensland. I don't know if it is a fossil of some strange rock. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Cheers, Andrew

Hello, I found this one deep in the desert near the Organ Mountains outside Las Cruces NM. I am not familiar with the age of the area. This piece is super cool to just look at and let your pareidolia run with it. Looking for help to identify. It's dimensions are 12x6x8 inches

Hello, I am completely new to fossil hunting. I recently found this in my back yard while filling in a hole that had been dug a few months back. I don't know if it's fossil, natural formation or garbage. I'm hoping the Fossil Forum members can help ID it for me. It was found in the far west part of the panhandle of Florida. I know the ground here has been disturbed in the recent past and it's possible fill dirt has been brought from somewhere else locally. At it's widest it is about 2.5", the thin cross section is about 1/4" and the tuber looking part is oval in shape , 3/4"x5/8". Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi all, This is a tiny little find from a creek here in Florida. It could be nothing more than a polished bit of fossilized bone with some coincidental marks, but the markings are odd to me. I haven’t found bone pieces with such symmetrical and aligned cuts like this before. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what this may be?

So many shark, dinosaurs topic! Now I want to see your favourite and more particular fossil mammal! It can be your rarest or your strangest fossil but the fossil you love the most. Let me start with this partial juvenile metailurus mandible from Hipparion red clay of Gansu. The erupting tooth still preserve a perfect micro crenulation, I just love it.

Repair on carcharodontosaurus tooth?
Per Christian posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello everyone This tooth is one is like to buy if it's no repair, but it's a strange one. It looks as if it's supposed to have repair because the contours are off. But the enamel is really pretty. What say people here? Repairs?- 5 replies

So I've been following this fossil for awhile now, there was a fossil that was found in the Marl Slate of NE England. It has odd traits compared to the usual fish found in the slate, as it has a elongate body. This is the link to the original article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10361199 Is it possible to determine if its fish or another vertebrate like an amphibian? Do any of you know of any species of elongate Permian Fish species?

Hi everyone, just came across this site trying to figure out what I just found. Discovered in the salt water in Chatham, MA, US. I have no clue whether this is current or ancient, terrestrial or marine, etc. You can see the next set of teeth still in the bone. It's about 10 cm long, and the largest tooth is about 1 cm wide.

Not sure what to make of this, I first thought that maybe it was part of a large gastropod shell but after digging it out of the sandstone boulder it was in, it looks as if that may be almost the complete specimen. Looks to be about 80% complete. Anyone have a clue as to what this might be?

Hello, I found this in mine with my university. What is this? I know it's not biological. I was thinking stylolites but this rock is not metamorphic. Its sedimentary. I know this because it's got the typical characteristics of shale. Its brittle, has layers, smells like shale, absorbs water, and is found in a shale deposit that is Pennsylvanian in age. So what the heck is it?

I found this rock in my yard today and cracked it open. There is a strange light round spot inside along with what looks like small fossils (coral and shells). Can someone please tell me what's going on with this rock? What caused the light round spot?

My dad gave me a weird brown and orange stone. The orange stripes took painted on, and the rock is smooth. I need help identifying it. Thanks!

There is a weird white, flaky material on nearly every rock around my home. Does anyone know what it is? If not, it's all right.

Previously shown but “the topping” was never addressed. Not a fossil. Common Slipper Shell With... ...Fungus? ...Parasite? ...“Piggybacking a Friend?” ...”Cheeseless puff?” Thank you! Karen
