I found this stone in southern New Hampshire on the border of a forest area on a former farm site. It has shiny elements which I think might be Quartz. It’s weight is 7.4 ounces. See photo for size. I know glacial activity in New Hampshire was late. I found my other interesting stones some of which could have been used as tools. Thank you.

Greetings friends! Would anyone like to weigh in on what this fossil that was found on Caspersen Beach is? A bit about where it was found, Caspersen is North of Punta Gorda and south of Sarasota. The Peace River runs into the Gulf of Mexico just a bit south of Caspersen and Englewood, and the fossils wash up on the beach from a bed near the shoreline. Any ideas on what causes the striping? I haven’t seen any like this. Apologies for all the hand photos. My lighting is meh, and it’s hard to avoid throwing shadows on the desk.

My dad gave me a weird brown and orange stone. The orange stripes took painted on, and the rock is smooth. I need help identifying it. Thanks!
