I found this in the creek last week, I'm pretty sure it is a tooth, but I'm not sure what kind, whale maybe? I'm not sure if it is just the break, but the shape looks like tapir? Maybe incisor or front tooth? Any ideas are appreciated, thanks! (1.25 inches, 3 cm)

Another find from the Peace River, FL last week. Upon first look I thought it was a very worn Tapir tooth. When I got it home I started to think the center was too hollowed out to be Tapir. Searching on line and in the Forum galleries I got the idea it might be Manatee or Dugong. I keep going back and forth between Tapir and Manatee so finally decided to get opinions from the group here. Measurements of crown: 1" x 7/8" x 6/8" (at highest point) or 23mm x 21mm x 17mm This first view is what has me thinking Manatee or Dugong Then this one has me leaning to Tapir Last two views: All opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Greetings all, I found this bone Fragment on Jones Island, South Carolina. I was thinking/hoping it may be a fragment of the base of a mastodon tooth. Does anyone have any thoughts on this piece?

So literally just got back out to my spot from yesterday in the hopes of continuing with a good shovel to start off the day. First shovel of the day results in this: Dugong? Tapir? Any help appreciated! @Shellseeker @Harry Pristis

I checked the river yesterday for a short time and came across a lot of chunkosaurus, but I'm pretty sure this piece could be a small hoof core. If so, I'm not sure which species it may be. I felt like it was too rounded for deer but too small for equus. There is mostly Pleistocene in this gravel bed, but Miocene/Pliocene is possible due to older formation outcroppings up river. To me, this looks similar to a small hoof core that @garyc found and posted in an older thread that was ID'd as a possible miocene horse. But I'm always learning. Thanks for everyone's patience with all my posts. I've learned so much the past year from the forum. --Brandy

Made it out to the Peace River yesterday for what turned out to be a beautiful day. Quite a number of the usual finds and then a few I am wondering about. One small thin tooth, just 27 mm, that I believe is a mammal incisor and second one, 19mm, that appears to me to be the same thing but worn or broken down smaller. After a lot of on line searching I came up with the possibility that they are Tapir or possibly a broken camelid/llama incisor? Or is it not even land mammal? The third tooth has me stumped on what to even look for. It appears to be a whole tooth with two roots but measures only 9mm x 19mm. Any help would be appreciated. Tooth #1 Tapir? - Second tooth that I believe is a shorter, more worn version of the first - The third tooth is double rooted and quite small at 9mm X 19mm

I am a novice fossil hunter seeking some confirmation on a couple of finds in the Peace River, FL this week. I believe the images in the attached photo are a Tapir tooth and Alligator jaw section with two teeth. I would appreciate help in confirming or properly identifying these finds. I am also interested in information on how I can clean the "Alligator" jaw/teeth to remove green algae without damaging the specimen. Thanks
