Found other interesting items that stood out, Find a lot of things that seem like they could have been used as tools. the items in the picture were not all found at one specific spot. 3. I found this tooth yesterday on my backyard while working on a project. It was under about 5 feet of rock. This house was built back in 1960s and to my best knowledge this side of the backyard wasn't excavated - there was a serious layer of rocks. To what animal does this tooth belong? I can't figure it out...
  4. Hi, my father has this fossil tooth/claw, but he doesn't remember anything of it. He doesn't remember where he got it, where the fossil is from, etc. I was wondering if any of you have some idea of what kind fossil can it be? Thanks!

    Is it Baryonyx's tooth?

  8. Hello everyone, I am very glad to have found this forum, as I have no knowledge at all about fossils. I got a fossil and wonder if it's real. The information I was given: It is meant to be a crocodile tooth from Morocco of the eocene. The person I got it from bought it 15 years ago from moroccan sellers in Germany. It was the first time they brought crocodile teeth with them (but other fossils before). Do you think it is real? To me it looks as if the crocodile went to the dentist's just a few weeks ago? If it's a real fossil I also would be very glad to get an ID - shoud I open another thread in the ID section? Thank you in advance!! Laleja

    Theropod Tooth

Hey all, Curious to know your thoughts on this tooth. The low CHR is tough... CH: about 13mm adding 1mm for worn tip CBL: 8.5mm CBW: 4.0mm Mesial serration density: 5/mm Distal serration density: 4/mm
  10. Aquired a big megalodon tooth who seemed to have certain deformation/pathology to a certain extent. However, it looks like serrations has started to split off in two directions? I'm not familiar with this at all. Anyone who is more familiar with megalodon and shark teeth that can help?

    Ceratosaurus?

Hello, I came across this 1.3" tooth from the Morrison formation in Johnson county, Wyoming. Does it look like Ceratosaurus to you? I'm trying to confirm that the mesial carina extends to the base, but I think it does extend to the base (despite being worn), based on the last pic but it's hard to tell since it's out of focus. Looks pretty symmetrical and otherwise morphologically appropriate. DSDI looks to be in the 1.0 ballpark...

    Help identify tooth please.

I found this tooth In desert near Albuquerque New Mexico. Could it be some kind of marine reptile? I would appreciate any ideas about ID. Thanks
  13. Hello, I am a novice collector and have only just begun collecting fossils. Was on a lookout for a Spinosaurus tooth and managed to chance upon one in a bookstore. I bought it and brought it home, and upon closer inspection the tooth looks kinda plastic-y. Understand that some restoration is unavoidable in most fossils, and am just trying to ascertain if the tooth is genuine. Would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Some kind of large Molar?

Just found this, I think my horse might have uncovered it. We're not sure what it is, but from looking online it might be some kind of worn molar, but not from a horse or cow, but what? On one side it looks like it had been broken at one time, but it's all pretty smooth, no jagged edges. There's a lot of clay in the area & not even sure if it's a fossil or not? Thanks for the help!

    Nice horse tooth

This may be the best preserved Horse tooth I’ve ever found. It has very little wear and even still has the roots! I’ve looked through all the reference material that I have available and really haven’t found anything close. Even if I don’t get an ID I knew Jack would love to see this one! L=20.5mm W=13mm H=29mm. @Shellseeker
  16. Hello, my name is Max and I will begin collecting fossils. My passion for fossils and especially dinosaurs started when I was a child. I had lots of dinosaur toys, watched a lot of movies and documentations, studied facts about them and felt like a paleontologist with my excavation kits. My fascination for this prehistoric world has never been estinguished. That's why I decided to buy a tooth of a spinosaurus, which is one of my favorites. Before buying I have read some "real or fake"-topics here in the forum but I am still not sure if the tooth I'd like to buy is real, composited from different teeth or even fake. The tooth is very large (15.5cm) thats why I thought it could possibly be composited to increase the size. The selling shop states that the tooth was repaired. Would greatly appreciate any help from you. Thank you. Max

ID and authenticity of 4 fossils

Hello, I recently acquired some fossils at a mineral show. I already tried to identify them, but I am not 100% sure, especially since I am not sure about the authenticity in some cases. It would be great if you could help me further! 1. In the of the ammonite at least one spine on the right side is not real, but I am not sure if it is a real restored fossil or a complete fake. I also don't know the age or locality. 2. The fish fossil is apparently from Wyoming and 250 million years old. But since it looks relatively "modern" I suspect that I misunderstood what was said and that it is supposed to be 52 million years old. If this is the case I suspect it could be either Knightia or Gosiutichthys from the Green River Formation. I am also not sure if parts of it were painted. 3. The tooth was sold as a spinosaurid tooth from Morocco. If that is the case then it has to be of a juvenile, but I can't rule out that it really is the tooth of a plesiosaur or an ornithocheirid pterosaur. The tip broke of during transportation, so I had to glue it back on. 4. The trilobite is also supposed to come from Morocco and was said to be approximately 350 million years old. I suspect it to belong to the genus Phacops or a close relative.
  18. Are these real adult Tyrannosaurus teeth? Production area: Hell Creek I appreciate everyone's comments! thank you very much!

    Tryrannosaurid or Dromaeosaurid?

Hey all, Curious to know your thoughts on this tooth from the JRf in Hill county, Montana. I'm thinking tyrannosaurid, but not aware of tyrannos having things like DSDI=1.5 (granted, neither does Dromaeosaurus) or serrations that get 50% denser towards the middle vs at the base. Judith River formation, Hill county, Montana CH: 13.5mm CBL: 6.5mm CBW: 3mm Mesial serration density: 5/mm Distal serration density: 3.3/mm Serration density greater near the tip and base.
