I would like best guesses on what this fossil is. It was donated to the NHM with no information or provenance. Maybe it is a fish? Looks bony.

Both of these from Eagle Ford Post Oak creek matrix, I didn't even recognize the tooth on first look, not sure ID is possible but curious is it very worn or just emerging or what? The other item looks like it should be something but may be ironstone, just not sure.

Hi, I have this mystery piece of what appears to be anomalocarid appendage of sorts. The problem is I did not receive any information with it and it came out of an old collection from Maine, Usa. I'm not to sure what else it could be from the appearance but I am also very uncertain of the exact species. The piece of a very laminated sparkly shale If I had to guess it could've came from either Burgess Shale, Utah, or Nevada but I not sure what locality it could be from so if anyone if familiar with these shales and can tell from the preservation it would be a huge help, thank you and looking forward to seeing peoples opinions, and if anyone can recommend an expert to show that would also help.

Upper ordovician, Italy. Decalcified specimen (it means that you see the mould). Scale bar 5mm. These are 3 different specimens, but I guess of the same species. At first thought they seem a blastoid oral area (never reported blastoids from this formation). But, as 2 of 3 of these specimens are inscribed in a circle, I was thinking about a particular echinoderm stem mould.

I mentioned this here and have had it a long time. Tube with green target lens no markings. Possibly a surveyors instrument part. Green target that rotates. I coupled it to my phone and then did a grey scale image. Any ideas on maker or use?

Hello there everyone! I found this site while looking for resources to ID what my wife suspects is a fossil. We acquired it cleaning out a house that was bought 'as-is' by a relative. - it was on a brick fireplace with some other interesting rocks including a huge piece of obsidian. She swears it looks like a dinosaur egg. I don't see it but agreed to look into it. It's about 10 inches long by 5 inches thick at the thickest point and shaped kinda like a football. Thanks very much for your time and expertise.

Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post. I found the fossil at work today laying in the gravel. I'm not sure if it came in on a dump truck load of gravel or was unearthed 4 years ago during the construction of the impoundment ponds. Regardless it was found in northeastern Oklahoma approximately 45 miles directly south of Tulsa. The only thing I can tell you about it other than what the pictures show is the smell. It had the smell of oil shale after I rinsed the dirt from it. I tried to meet the requirements for photos but I have no ruler that measures in MM nor do I have a printer to print the printable one mentioned in another post. I did however have a Tritan digital caliper that I took measurements with and a laboratory balance that it was weighed with. All measurements are taken at the longest, widest and thickest points. Length: 63.38mm Width:. 27.74mm Thickness: 17.52mm Weight:. 46.3571g

A Mazon Creek nodule popped open a few days ago. At first I thought it was nothing. But in the right light, I have hope (hopefully not false hope) that this may indeed be a find. If this were my Ordovician matrix, I could envision a trilobite. Maybe it mimics a horseshoe crab!!!! During my hunt, I did get to see a horseshoe crab found by @flipper559 I will cross my fingers waiting for the experts to respond.

I found this on the coast near Savannah. I don’t think it is a fossil, I just can’t figure out what part of the animal it comes from. Is this a part of a spine? A tail? It did get a bit crushed in a quick beach exit due to a lightning storm - but it survived vs the shells I had collected… I appreciate any insight.

Yesterday found me exploring multiple Galena/Ordovician road cuts in northern Iowa. Finds for the most part were good but just the common fossils found in this rock formation. However, one rock I examined contained a positive and negative relief of something I do not recognize. Hopefully someone can put an ID to these pictures!!!!!! Positive front Positive back Positive from the side negative imprint Both positive and negative together
