I live at the bottom of a hollow in Buffalo Valley, TN. It was obviously under water at some point as I have tons of rocks with shell fossils all up my hill. I find crinoids all the the time. This is the first that I've found that looks like this though. It's maybe the size of a quarter. Is it a vertebrae from something?

Found this cleaning up the yard today. Is this whale vertebrae? I’m on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in SoCal. I’m thinking Miocene. Its embedded in a large piece of what I think is PV stone, but then again, I’m regularly surprised by the specimens I encounter. The part in question appears to have a broad, pock marked base across one face of the stone, and that’s where I get confused. There are veins of the same or similar material throughout the entire stone, and a group of possible concretions on the far side of the stone from the possible vertebrae. What is this?!?

Found this beauty this morning on the Palos Verdes Peninsula beach in Southern California. Is this vertebrae? And if so, what animal? Specimen is probably five-six inches long, well worn, and marrow has been replaced by something else- tar, perhaps? One end is rounded, while the other appears sort of tripod shaped. Thanks for any input! Melanie

Was in Florida for a long weekend so I spent some time in the Peace River near Arcadia, Fl and picked this up. By size and basic shape it seems like a mastodon or mammoth vertebrae, but I haven't been in the area enough to tell and granted it’s very worn. Thoughts?

Hello again! I'm a complete newbie here so any help would be gratefully received. I've recently been given a small collection of bones that belonged to a neighbour of my parents here in the UK. He was a fossil collector who recently passed away. The largest bone has been identified as a woolly rhino femur but I'm struggling with the others. I'm wondering if this is a section of vertebrae but from what I really don't know.! Apologies for the background.

Hello I picked this guy up off Micklers Beach in Florida today. I get a lot of sharks teeth but never saw one of these before. (Maybe not even a fossil at all?) Would appreciate thoughts on what it is. Thank you.

These were found at Mary Seaholm Park in South Austin in early March. I have no idea what any of it is. I suspect the darker things in front are iron ore. They're very heavy. The other things are in a soft, chalky matrix & seem very delicate. Any help would be great!

Hi, looking for an ID on this. From research it looks like snake vertebrae? But seems too large. Big snake? Found in Alberta. About 8 inches across, 3 inches deep. Thank you for any ideas.

I don't k ow what this is. I am making guesses but I don't know. It is around 5 inches wide and 2.5 inches in depth. The two sides are hollowed out. One side shallow one side deep. But they mirror each other in shape

Also @ 2990. Has the texture of bone and the two holes make me think it's a vert? Rookie guess :-) If it is a vert...what kind?
