Went a trip to a locality exposing lower Silurian and upper Ordovician material. The weather was quite nice with intermittent drizzling rain. A large Dawsonoceras. I didn't collect it as it was too crumbly. A dalmanitid. Not sure of the species yet. Maybe limulurus? ventral calymenid. possible Spathacalymene. Enrolled calymenid. Assorted odds and ends. Platycerids, cystoids, far right is an odd Dawsonoceras fragment. Thanks for reading.

From the album: Chondrichthyan Teeth From The Pennsylvanian Period
This tooth most likely belongs to the Raytown Limestone member of the Iola Limestone formation. I found this during late March/Early April. I call this my first tooth as I happened to find one 2 hours away from this locality a few days ago. I will upload that one later.-

This time, it is a 4.2 inch Chubutensis tooth discovered in Bobert, South Carolina that will be included in the shark tooth collection! The cusps aren't that prominent, but I think they're great teeth!

hi, i got these fossils at a local auction so very limited information, sadly no loctaion. they were in a box and the description was "mixed fossils of ammonites, vertebra, fossil eye, gryphaea (devils toe nails), coral and coprolite". I've not added the ammonites or gryphaea, bivalves or mould fossil of bivalve as can ID them. its the folloiwng 8 i'm not sure on. 1. i think is either vertebrae or crinoid stem - the opening (filled soild)goes right the way through it 2. i think large is crinoid stem and the small ? vertebra 3. i'm guessing is what they thought was an eye - the dark goes right though it - i think could be a belemnite 4. i think its crinoid still in a rock 5. i think ammonite orcoral as has jagged markings 6. i think some type of coral 7. i'm guesisng what they thought was coprolite - ive added from various angles to show marks 8. no idea at all any help or thoughts appreciated. i can take more pictures from other angles if required, just give me the number. Hello to everybody! I'm kinda new here, but before I start I must say I really love this forum! It has really great vibes and you instantly can tell that this is a good and friendly community! So, I am ziggycardon, I live in Belgium, close to the border of the Netherlands and when we start speaking geologically, I live on the same cretaceous sediments as where the first major Mosasaurus discoveries where done! Unfortunatly I have never been on a fossil hunt myself and everything currently in my collection was bought or given to me. But I hope to change that soon, as I am dying to go hunting myself. Maybe the Chalk sediments 3 km from my home would be a good place to start! For the rest, my job, my major hobby and my other main interest besides fossils are living animals. I currently work as the head of terrarium & aquarium in 3 different pet stores and I have quite a collection of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and tropic fish myself. In my spare time I often take my own living animals along with my fossils and other educational natural history material to schools so I can teach kids about nature and it's history and hidden mechanics. For the rest are my other hobbies mainly based around movies and televisions as I collect a lot of stuff drom my favorite franchises like "Lord or the Rings" & "The Hobbit", "Game of Thrones, "Pirates of the Caribbean", ... And I also attent a lot of comic cons and other events related to those franchises. But then this topic! In this topic I will show my collection of fossils (and also minerals, stones and meteorites) as it is right now and then I will highlight each group of fossils bit by bit. I am currently starting with a own specialized fossil room, so ofcourse the progress and end result will also be posted here! And ofcourse when something get's added to my collection, I'll show it here as well. Sometimes a photo of my "special" pets or taxidermy specimens might pop up, but this topic will mainly be about the fossil room and my fossil collection. For the rest, if you have any comments or questions about the collection or about me or about anything, feel free to ask! I'd love to reply!

This is one of my Megalodon tooth collections. What is that sticking out here? Is it called a bridge? The Chubutensis teeth are sticking out like this. Is there a possibility of Chubutensis teeth? It's just a pathological tooth, right?

Hello, Everyone; I found what appear to be several interesting rocks on the beach in Venice, Florida lately and decided to see if they arouse the interest of the panel here. I’ll start out with one that I first thought was a shard of mammoth/mastodon tooth. Upon turning it over I was intrigued by the black, toothlike colorations.

Hello, I am new to the forum and trying to educate myself on my home state's paleontology and geology. I am wondering if anyone knows of a site that contains a list of all fossil species that have been found in Kentucky. I read on University of Kentucky's website that 4,000 species identified in the state, but cannot find a list. If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction, that would be amazing. I took my son to the Chesapeake and Delaware canal spoil piles at reedy point a few weeks ago and found these two small pieces. They stood out but I’m not sure if they’re actually anything interesting or not.

Hello all, it’s been a long time since I’ve last posted. A lot has changed, and I’ve been getting the fossil hunting bug again. (No pun-intended) You know what bug I do not want to catch? Ticks. I’ve already seen 3 this year, thankfully none on myself since I’ve been avoiding brush and tall grass. Yet the fear of catching a tick-born-disease is keeping me from fossil hunting. I am going on a fossil hunt out to a spot in western Pennsylvania this Saturday with my fossil club that I haven’t been to since 2016. I’m excited but also nervous about ticks. In the past there wasn’t a ton of brush there, since it’s a dam spillway in a park. But I went during the fall then, and as I remember ticks weren’t nearly as much of an issue then as they are today. Do any of you have any tips to keep ticks off of me this trip? I’ve read about DEET and permethrin sprays, and I am still unsure. I have two cats, so I am also worried about the toxicity of permethrin and other anti-tick substances. I will probably be wearing jeans and long sleeves to protect myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone help!! Anyone able to confirm of this is a bird fossil. Found in Hornsea on the East Coast, caught my eye as it looks like a bird to me. I have a few pics below, dry and wet also against a tennis ball for size. I will be taking to Manchester Museum, a friend of mine sent me this group so thought I'd ask! Anyone else able to advise me further, total novice at this 🤔

Since the topic i am searching for as apparently vanished, ill make a new one . I recall a topic on here a couple of years ago on someone having a wooden cabinet and storing their fossils in it. The issue was the wood apparently was out gassing, and damaging the fossils as a result . Does anyone else have insight on this and what kinds of wood do not mix well to store or display fossils in?
