Found this specimen in a dry riverbed near Holden Utah. There are many circular and oval like depressions throughout. Looks similar to pine cone shape and indentations or stigmaria roots. Any thoughts? Cheers. Appx. 3.5” x 4.5” @ 1.5lb

I'll take things Absolutely not supposed to be found in Southeast Kentucky for one thousand, Alex...

Hello 👋 I am so happy to have found this forum! I have already gleaned some excellent I formation and look forward to more. I am an avid researcher. If my interest in something, in ANYTHING is piqued, I have to KNOW all there is to know about that particular subject. A blessing and a curse. My curiosity is rarely, if ever, fully satisfied. I have been told by many, many experts that several of the things I have been finding recently are absolutely NOT in Southeast Kentucky amd I MUST be mistaken. Ummm... I live in Southeast Kentucky and most (99%) of what I have found in the past several months has been from an area within 10 miles of my home. So, what am I missing? Only so much can be explained through the occasional drop or glacial deposits. Just in the past 24 hours I have found over 30 small geodes! All between 1 inch and 4 inches in diameter. All within 30 yards of each other. NOT in or near water. Also found were bits of agate, small agate nodules, crinoids, crinoid crusted geodes, loads of Rugose (horn) coral, etc...- 17 replies

I was visiting a friend in West Virginia who is preparing his property for building his home. It's just south of Charleston. I noticed what I think is a layer of petrified wood. Not sure though. Any information would help. There were also petrified nuts.

Dear friends, please advise. I found this sea urchin today, it looks like a petrified one. But it us very light, feels like wooden, and it floats. I found a fossilized sea urchin not so long ago, but that one is much heavier. So could you please advise, if this one is petrified, or what could happen with it? Thank you!

I found this walking by my home in Vermilion County, Illinois along a creek bed with other rocks. This stood out to me and the little details on it look very odd. I have tried to theorize what it is but can’t. But they look like little bones possibly? Suggestions?

Hi everyone, Recently found this oyster shell specimen from an area near Tampa FL amongst dredged limestone where I’ve found agatized coral. 99% sure it’s fossilized (has a very small amount of limestone stuck to the bottom), but something interesting is that there appears to be botryoidal agate coating it. Is this an agatized oyster? Is this a common find around tampa? And can I bleach it to remove algae?

Found this yesterday on a beach in north Florida. Has fiber outter, and the points looks like it would grow and split to reveal a seed inside. Juvenile coconut?

I have many things I've picked up along the way. I'm not expert by any stretch. I'd love some help though. I'm thinking this is a fossilized bone. If not I apologize in advance. Thanks so much.

This is a sandy rock with what looks like a little dinosaur with scales trapped within. Thanks in advance! Any help appreciated I wet the fossil in some pics. On the back you can see clearly 3 triangle toe prints. I am thinking this animal was stepped on and trapped in the mud millions of years ago, until I dug it out after a heavy rain exposed a bit.
