Hi all my first thread here… How to tell if this is a real saber tooth skull? Data I know so far makes me suspicious… Origin: Asia / Hong Kong Dealer: Private CoA: Nothing, only photos. Provenance: bought at a fossil fair in 1980 (so, nothing to validate here…) The skull was prepped with a liquid to prevent sucking up water from air. Kind regards flashy

Hello Fossil Forum Family & Folk. I recently picked up a McKittrick 'Smilodon Saber and Bones' specimen from an old collection. My concerns: there is so much going on with what I assume is epoxy/filler on the underneath of the tooth that I can't confirm the Smilodon ID. Looks like a saber from the top and one side, but from dead-on and the other side it looks like a thin pyramidical shape (and I can't/won't remove the saber from the tar matrix to figure out exactly what the previous owner or collector did to it). Also, the anatomy of the bone on the left is easy enough, but my lack of knowledge about big cats means I'm not certain of which animal the bone belonged to. Think the ID is correct? Any insights would be deeply appreciated.

Without being able to get hands on with a light or up close inspection - does anyone see any red flags here? Seems legit to me - but it’s a potential big purchase so I wanted to hear some thoughts. Always dreamed of picking up a saber skull one day. ~35cm in length. thanks so much for any input -
Hi, my name is Jess, I am from a city in Massachusetts where we are lucky enough to have commercial fishermen go out and bring back some of the best seafood. I dated a fishermen for a bit and I could of cared less about money, I always wanted the sand dollars and sea glass and for such a horrible relationship I was at least able to make it out alive with what we thought to be possibly a saber tooth tigers? I appreciate any feedback. Thank you ! Jessie

I know to be skeptical of anything coming from China/Asia, but what are your thoughts on this partial skull. Thanks in advance

I've been looking around the old interwebs today and found this for sale, does anyone know what it belongs to, or if it's real? It kind of looks like a Saber cat tooth to me, but any help will be appreciated!
