Trying to identify this partial skull I recently acquired. The seller knew nothing about it, other than it belonged to his grandfather, who is now deceased. He lived in Colorado. The horns are 27" point to point, & diameter appears to be about 4" at the bases. It weighs 10 pounds. I assume it is an extinct bison skull. Attached are some photos. Trying to ascertain the species, approximate age, & anything else. It appears to have been conserved in the past. Thanks, Richard realvalu@frii.com

Found intact Young Bison skull with 3 teeth, is it historic or plestiocene?
galaxy777 posted a topic in Fossil ID
Hello, I found this bison skull in a creek yesterday after a very heavy rain (that downed many trees in a few areas). Positive it's bison, but not sure if it is a young bison bison, or possibly a bison antiquus calf? The horns from tip to tip are 20 1/2" and the length of the skull is around 19 1/2" There are 3 upper cheek teeth present, the back 2 worn down considerably. Any help would be much appreciated!- 6 replies

Hello Fossil Enthusiasts! I recently found a large group of Bison bones. They were found all together. They have not been cleaned as I believe the soil may contain some clues as to the age. (Including a little clam shell in the skull.) There are multiple animals here; one skull, three adult horns, one baby horn, shoulder blade, ribs, tibia, teeth, etc. A rough estimate is that they are Bison Bison. Thank you in advance!
