Unique Bryozoan with intact, diamond shaped zooeciums/operculums
Innocentx posted a topic in Fossil ID
I found this on hilltop in Wreford Formation. I've never seen this before and at first I thought it was Acanthocladia. It's not. Has anyone seen this type before? Lower Permian, Wreford formation, Kansas. 904 bryozoan.bmp- 19 replies

One of these days a geologist is going to drive by and tell me which formation I'm in. That's my hope, anyway. I found this sticking out of layer in creek side. These tiny gastropods were located in only one place (I checked carefully) on this slab and they seem to be confined inside the outline of an aviculopecten valve. The largest individual is just under 3 mm and the smallest less than 1 mm. I thought they might also be forams because of their size, just not sure. Areas that were enlarged or magnified are circled in red.

I collected this after the grass burned, on a hilltop in NW Greenwood County, KS. I've not seen this before, but the chert has such detailed fossils that I expect someone will recognize this. Except for a couple of shark teeth (cladodus), I've never found a fish part. This reminds me of gills.
