Interopercular?? Fish group and age would be helpful
D.N.FossilmanLithuania posted a topic in Fossil ID
Dear Guys, I recently found one very interesting fish bone, it is 1,6 cm length and I think it is probably interopercular. I do not think it is sarcopterygian because the bone is very thin and in the same type of erratics I found bowfin- like scales. So I think the best version would be primitive actinopterygian. Any idea would be very helpful! Please comment and give an opinion if you know bony fishes well. Merry Christmas to everybody! Domas -
Fossils from the red sandstone layer in the North Sulphur River. Ladonia, Texas. Does anyone know why the fossils in this layer are black, or what mineral it is?
