MarcoSr
I just finished searching another batch of coarse and fine matrix from the TXI Quarry, Midlothian, Johnson Co., Texas from the Cretaceous, Coniacian, Austin Group, ATCO Formation. This matrix was sent to me by silverphoenix (Chase). The majority of the teeth were heavily reworked with heavy wear and damage. However, I did find some nice and interesting shark, ray, and fish micros. I’m posting some of the nicer and more unusual micros. Most of the specimens were in the 1mm to 5mm size range. If you place your cursor on a JPEG image you will see the file name which will have the specimen id as best that I can determine and the specimen size. Each matrix that I search makes me more of an avid micro tooth collector. If anyone has or can collect good matrix with shark, ray, and fish micros please send me a PM. mikecable
I collectsx about 30 kilograms of bulk matrix from the XTI quarry a few months ago. It's a booger to break down. Like you, I'm finding a lot of reworked, worn and broken bits. I'm also finding a few nice specimens. I'm getting ready to take off on an odyssey of Central Texas, and don't have time to post pics this afternoon. But I will soon, and will probably be asking you for help with ID. I hope to meet silverphoenix this weekend. Mike
Darwin Ahoy
I like these pictures. It's pretty cool to see the similarities between the micros that you guys are finding down there and the micros I find up here.

Mike Freezing, boiling vinegar, and several weeks total sitting during the cycles and I was able to break down about 10 kilograms of the TXI matrix that I searched for my previous TXI Quarry post. I used 9 gallons of 5% vinegar. This batch of TXI Quarry matrix Chase sent to me already broken down into a coarse and fine matrix. It was really nice not to have to break it down. Good luck on your odyssey. I'll help with the id if I can. The wear on a lot of the TXI specimens made id tougher. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
