Scylla
How often can you find a shark tooth with a shark fin attached! Nice one
MikeD
I got to see it in person and it is the prettiest petalodus I have seen. The photo dose not do it justice. Great find Mike Wow! Compared to your collection, that's saying a lot. Here's the photos of Mike's tooth that I took- it was an outstanding tooth! Hey, those are pretty good! I took another one this morning, trying to capture the shine, but the my phone camera cannot quite capture it. What I thought was dirt was actually rock still on the tooth. Cleaning this one will be tricky. I will probably just leave it as is. Here is what appears to be a bone that I found. And just for fun..... it is the first day of Spring..... I tested out the egg balance theory this morning. Edited March 20, 2014 by MikeD
JimB88
Wow! Awesome tooth! Is that matrix its in hard? The other one looks like a lungfish or Coelacanth 'scapula' or part of the shoulder girdle!
Missourian
The Petalodus teeth are really nice, but that bone is special. I've seen teeth and spines in Pennsylvanian marine limestones, but never bones. Edited March 20, 2014 by Missourian Context is critical.
