Iowa River Find

Dereynes

Recommended Posts

Was out last evening with my boys for an hour hunt before the sun went down. I have found many different fossils in the same area, mammoth, bison, deer, and paleo points. Today was a first for me, horse femur!

That does look more like an ancient horse.

Here is a modern horse femur I found this summer.

Noticed the circle in red?  Your has deeper grooves than my modern horse femur.

Post a couple of more images of your bone, Don .  .  . I'm not sure that you don't have a cow bone there.

Harry,

This was my past post.  I have also taken this bone over to local Veterinarian and confirmed.
