New Members km3li9h Posted April 23, 2020 New Members Share Posted April 23, 2020 (edited) I was cleaning up my backyard and came across an interesting rock with shell imprints. Could these be actual fossils? or a school project gone wrong? I joined the forum to see if this is for real. I live a little less than a mile from the Hudson River. If this is real, can someone educate me on what I found? Any info will be greatly appreciated. connorp
Welcome to the forum. I cannot see the photos. They were uploaded as HEIC files, which the forum can't display.

Jeffrey P
Hi and welcome. I agree, brachiopod shells casts and imprints. Most likely from rocks brought there by humans or brought down by the glacier since those type of fossils are not seen in the bedrock of the Wappingers Falls area. Rocks exposed around Kingston and Saugerties are full of those type of shells. By the way, I live about a half hour away. All metamorphic rock in my neighborhood.
