Dino1
Hey guys, I saw this listed as a fossil rock but I feel like it could be a skull, it has the shape of a skull and crystals where it’s eyes would have been. What do you guys think? It’s found in kerrville, Texas.
Fossildude19
I don't believe this is a skull or a fossil, for that matter. This looks geologic in origin, to me. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Dino1
Wait if it’s a geologic how is the “eyes” looking part of it blue and the rest is dirt brown?
Troodon
Ha ha pretty cool and shaped rock. I can see why one could call it a skull
Kane
Crystals and other forms of coloured mineralizations can form inside various sedimentary rocks. For example, calcite, quartz, gypsum, and pyrite are fairly well known to do that, and would not be uniform colour with the surrounding sedimentary matrix. 4 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

As Kane says, it is a mineral that is different than the overlying matrix. Are there pictures of the other side? LordTrilobite
Cool rock. Not a skull. It lacks the necessary structural detail for bone. 1 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Mark Kmiecik
Google "puddingstone" and check out the images. Nature does some cool stuff. A little of this and a little of that. Throw it in the pot and keep stirring until it hardens. Voila, pudding stone. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
