FOSSILIZED LICHEN FUNGI MUSHROOMS

My backyard find, a few miles north west of Long Beach. I found the smaller pieces (which appear to be mushroom, then hit a large rock, removed the rock and saw a corner of this sticking out. Still working on cleaning it with a soft brush as it is VERY fragile!

I think these features represent a sedimentation pattern formed by moving water. The surface being the result of weathering.

One may need to find a way of studying all the features more closely to say there are not fossils in the mix however.

I don't suppose this is a fossil?

It may be time to start. It looks a lot like a bivalve to me.

There's something caught between the camera lens on my phone that is making it blur. Could this be anything of importance?
