M Harvey
I'm going to guess it's a rugosa or horn coral. What size is it?
fossilisa
Thanks. It is quite small. About the size of a nickel.
Kane
For our non-US members, their "nickel" is a five cent coin with a diameter of 0.835 inches or 21.21 mm. 1 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Fossildude19
Often times, the brooks in NJ will reveal some of these paleozoic treasures from the NJ uplands. Probably reworked glacial erratics, but other means of transport are possible. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." FossilDAWG
The same thing happens in many Alabama creeks and streams. Lots of Cretaceous shark teeth, turtle bone, sometimes mosasaur bits, and some gravel with Paleozoic fossils eroded from the southern end of the Appalachians long ago when they were higher/steeper than they are now.
