Found in the basement of an abandoned home in South Bend, Indiana, surrounded by farm land. What could this be? (Photo taken ~10 years ago, apologizes for the less-than-great quality)

Cropped, enlarged, brightened, and sharpened.

Looks to me like someone's dog or a coyote.

Not likely to be a fossil.

With this poor quality photo, and no measurements, guesses will probably be all you will get.

You shouldn have...:s_cry:

creepiness aside, I think that is one skeleton, I do not see bones that are not accounted for.

That scapula looks not like a pigs, canid seems best fit, opossum maybe?

Teeth remind me of Enchodus though...

Chupacabra is also a possibility.

Best Regards,

J

Can we see close up pix of the teeth? Teeth are important to ID things like this

Unfortunately this is the only picture I have; had I known I would be curious about this sight for the next 10 years I would have definitely gotten several more photographs for better ID help!

Thanks - yes, oppossum has been my main contender, but the webbed/fin-like hand throws me off.

I do not see in the foto what you mean by webbed or fin-like.

The bright thing in front of the snout is the scapula or shoulder blade, torn out of the body and fitting an opossum. The hand would be below that, left of the green spot and not showing much detail in the picture.
