Is this fossil wood?

Is this fossil wood or something else. New to Iding fossils. Two sides of the same piece. Found in coastal south Carolina. Thanks!

Could be, I'm aware of such material from SC. Can you post a close-up of the grain / line patterns on the inside of the piece? A magnifying glass helps to keep the phone or camera in focus, I find! Also, please attach photos from all sides, some with a scale device such as a ruler, and, whereabouts did you find this (more specifically!)?
