Hello! I have found what I believe to be shark tooth (I am unsure if it is) nearby a river in south central Indiana and need help identifying it. This is the first fossil I have ever found so I am pretty new to this. The photos are of the same tooth from different angles.

This actually looks like a broken piece of some mammal tooth.

Welcome to TFF:)

I agree, this sppears to be some sort of mammal tooth. Unfortunately it does not appear to be a fossil.

Thank you guys so much for the response! Since I am new to this, do you have any tips on how to distinguish between different teeth or just identifying fossils in general?

I also found this by the river and it did not look like a normal rock so I decided to keep it. I think it may be a bone, but I am not sure what kind or what it’s from.
