New Members Dani O. Posted December 2, 2022 New Members Share Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) I'm hoping someone can help me identify this fossil. I believe it could be a claw of some sort. I was super stoked to find it. Edited December 2, 2022 by Dani O.
digit
Welcome to the forum! I'm not seeing any of the bone texture or the distinctive shape of a Dimetrodon claw. Most of the ones pictured online seem to be under an inch in length as well. Your item appears to be a piece of suggestively shaped rock--which are infinitely more common. https://www.google.com/search?q=dimetrodon+%2Bclaw&tbm=isch http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/89407-dimetrodon-vs-edaphosaurus-claws/ http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/126615-dimetrodon-claw/ Cheers. -Ken
digit
@dinodigger is our Dimetrodon expert but he seems to have been busy with real life activities (like digging up Dimetrodons) lately. Cheers. -Ken
New Members Dani O. Posted December 2, 2022 Author New Members Share Posted December 2, 2022 I respectively disagree that it's a rock. How about this one?

Ludwigia
I agree with the others. The first is a suggestively shaped rock and the second is a brachiopod. Take them to a museum and they'll tell you the same. Whether you agree with them is your own thing. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Fossildude19
@Dani O. It is poor form to remove pictures from posts people have already replied to. Now this topic is useless to anyone else. 5 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
