New Members EverGreenDream Posted May 30, 2023 New Members Share Posted May 30, 2023 Was out fishing recently when I came across a stone on the bank. The spot this was found is underwater when the water is high from snow melt in early spring.I believe there was a factory that used this portion of rapids as a power source many years ago. It was found in St Lawrence Country, NY
patelinho7
That's beautiful! I'm not sure what it is, but I love it. Best guess is some sort of agate?

TqB
I agree it looks like industrial slag. These pieces are waste from a steel foundry, used as a farm track covering (from England). 3 Tarquin
New Members Fredmo Posted May 30, 2023 New Members Share Posted May 30, 2023 Stuff like this also frequently shows up as bedding material along railroad tracks.

I collected a ton of it on gas well site in ft worth that I believe was a old iron ore smelting site in 1800s really pretty stuff and people make jewelry out of it and have sold some prices on online auction site actually.
