Found this in Morrison clay.  This is what is uncovered, not sure sure if it’s petrified bone or plant. Any ideas ? In southeast colorado.

This looks geologic in nature, to me.
Maybe limestone with some agate, quartz,  or chert inclusions?

I can understand why something on the surface like this might suggest bones of an animal. However, I think the reason these stand out the way a body might is that they are more resistant to weathering and erosion than the surrounding rock.

How or what causes this to form like it does.  You don’t see it anywhere other than the Morrison.  Thanks for taking time to educate me.

I do not have answer for this, but I find it in certain Eocene beds in southwestern WY.
