Hello forum,

I was doing some yard work and found what looks like a petrified skull. Can anyone help identify what it may be? Appreciate all input and help. Located in Michigan.

Quite curious. Can we see some images from the bottom (where the teeth would be)?

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, Ken.

This looks like some sort of cast. I'm looking close for details and the texture is pretty unusual. If it is real then I'm curious what that is on the exterior.  I'd expect the eye sockets to recede more or an opening where the cervical vertebra go and there are no occipital condyles. That last picture in the 1st set almost looks like concrete with texture.  I'm no expert but man this is a tough one.

The original pictures looks like one of the concrete skulls they used to sell when western decor used to be popular…. At least to me….

a quick internet search shows they are still being sold…

Yup. That's why I wanted to see the bottom to see if there actually were teeth. The texture and color swirls all seemed out of place but they make complete sense for this to be a decorative piece of concrete based on a skull. So not a fossil but imaginative artwork. ;)

Cheers.

Thanks guys! Makes sense — must have been left out by a previous tentant.
