New Members ChonkTheDog Posted August 5, 2023 New Members Share Posted August 5, 2023 (edited) Found this at Carolina Beach. It’s the same color and texture as another confirmed shark tooth that we found and it has a triangular shape but it’s missing that top ridge part so I’m unsure if it is a shark tooth or not. If it is, is it possible to ID the kind? Thank you! Edited August 5, 2023 by ChonkTheDog

SPrice
Very first post... and I'd like to offer another possibility on Chonk's image. A very worn down tip of an oyster shell. Having seen his location as North Carolina and having lived there myself over 30 years with lots of beach time shelling, I have seen and found many shells just like that in various conditions. From whole, fresh broken and different stages of wear. A few times...at first glance...Oh Wow! a shark tooth! ..nope another oyster shell tip. Maybe...maybe not. 1
Fossildude19
I agree with oyster shell hinge on this item. Not a rock. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
