What’s up with this Agatized Petrified Wood?

I found a couple of these in Central New Mexico. This flash is unlike anything I have seen before. The silver is a bright, clean sheen.

I'm not sure this is petrified wood. I don't see any characteristics like wood grain I would associate with petrified wood. To me it looks like a rock.
