Fish vert rough id please

Recommended Posts

I have recently bought a mixed bag of random verts that I am wanting to use to make little kids boxes for my shop.

I know there is many different types etc in here but I wondered if there is some general info that could be gleened, rough age, fish sizes are the longer ones from a specific part of the spine etc?

They are just a little pocket money buy for the kids but the last thing I want to be doing is telling them wrong information!

Thank you for your time

As far as I know, vertebrae are not diagnostic.  There are fish and shark verts mixed together there.

Without location information, age and species are nearly impossible to discern.

I knew it was a long shot but fish and shark verts is a start! Which is which?

As for location, well......knowing the man I bought them off they will either be from Saint-Marie, Munich or Tucson fossil fairs! Does that narrow it down at all?! :heartylaugh:

I think these are correct, but perhaps someone will confirm or deny.  @MarcoSr  @Al Dente

The one on the far left is a shark. I think the others are identified correctly.
