SharkySarah
This is my first time going to this location. I found some things I’m not sure of and others I think are pretty nice. Danielb
18, 56 and 27 are gastropods Edited November 1, 2023 by Danielb
Fossildude19
Sarah, Your pictures are good, but REALLY dark! Try taking your pictures in daylight, or with a lamp directly above the items. You could lighten them using photo editing software. Fossildude19
I think 18 and 36 are Platyceras sp. gastropod internal molds. I think 1 and 32 are likely the remains of crinoid stem lumens. Not sure on the brachiopods. @Tidgy's Dad @Jeffrey P @Shamalama 27 and 56 may be Pleurotomaria or Glyptotomaria sp. gastropods. 20 and 22 looks like Mucrospirifer mucronatus, to me. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Tidgy's Dad
I'm not sure of the Mahantango brachiopods, I haven't studied them yet, though I certainly agree with Mucrospirifer mucronatus. If 49 isn't a bivalve then it might be Athyris concentrica. And 3. and some of the others maybe Devonochonetes scitulus? 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. SharkySarah
Thank you all! I usually don’t collect in the Mahantango formation so all help is appreciated! Hopefully I can learn to love this formation since it’s everywhere in my area.
