Why don’t you put all your wife’s finds in the same subject since they come from the same place? I think it would be better than making a new post every time ;)

And yes, they are really fossils.

First of all, you are using the plural, although I only see one object. Secondly, I disagree that this is a fossil.

Not seeing bone texture here--looks a lot like the bizarre shapes that the phosphatic matrix takes on. Makes for an interesting piece to pick up and inspect closer but I too agree that we're not looking at a fossil here.

Cheers.

Thank you all for your responses.  As I’ve said before, I’m really new at this.  To reply:

1.  I was fighting with this website and finally threw up my hands and put them in separate topics.

2.  It really looked like a fossil.  But now it appears I’m wrong.  I hang my head in shame.

3.  Phosphatic matrix?  Oh boy, fun!

😁

um, just a thought: telling us it’s a fossil then asking what it is? 🤨

Suggest softening the stance. If the folks here are the knowledgeable ones, I think we should be able to determine whether or not it’s a fossil

No need to be ashamed. It's quite normal for beginners to misinterpret things until they start moving along their learning curve.
