New Members Adria Posted December 17, 2023 New Members Share Posted December 17, 2023 Hello everyone, I was just walking the beach on the Adriatic coast in Croatia and I found this rock with a seashell imprint inside, I am wondering could this possibly be a fossil or just a regular part of a seashell, it still has parts of shell in it. The rock I thinks is limestone which is the most common here. I appreciate your answers.
Fossildude19
This actually looks like the remains of a modern serpulid worm tube. 1 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Tidgy's Dad
Yes, something akin to Spirorbis. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Rockwood
The way the pits in the rock can be distinguished through it in places is a good indication that this is indeed on the rock rather than in it.
fossil35
Does look like indication of fossil. But I'm still new with everything. Looks a lot like the indication of a fossil I found a bit ago that was from Florissant. I try post pic but it maybe to small to see well (getting new scope, try get better pics). Its on the left side of pic, hopefully the sites zoom in will help.
Rockwood
I'm fairly sure this is actually a gastropod. The exceptional preservation in Florissant does look quite modern. It is a bit hard to tell, but I think the piece in question stands proud of the rock to a greater degree, and seems to conform well to its surface, as a modern worm tube would. New Members Adria Posted December 19, 2023 Author New Members Share Posted December 19, 2023 Thanks to all for helpful answers, I have some new finds from today, hope it's ok to ask in here and not start a new topic. These tiny seed like creatures all look like the same type of organism to me, only on different kinds of rock, what are they?
