Collector9658
I believe this is an Evactinopora grandis from the Mississippian aged Burlington Formation limestone, but am not certain and would like other opinions. 2 of the "rays" are pretty weathered away and one is smaller than all of the others, but it looks apparent that it had 4 rays. I checked some of the references I keep downloaded on my phone, but none of them have bryozoan illustrative plates. I traded away the only other specimen I've found like this long ago, and didn't take any pictures. Tidgy's Dad
Looks more echinodermy to me. A crinoid, I think. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

You can see the pores along the weathered "rays" if they are infact so rays of a bryozoan. Never seen a crinoid with these traits.

Your "pores" don't look like bryozoan zooecia to me and the object looks too large and the arms are too broad for Evactinopora in my opinion. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. What type of crinoid do you suppose it could be? Regardless, Here is a nice website I just found with an Evactinopora grandis description while looking online for photos to compare. https://www.lakeneosho.org/Evactinopora/grandis.html https://www.lakeneosho.org/Miss44a.html Edited April 29 by Collector9658
Collector9658
Any other opinions or suggestions on type of crinoid? Not trying to be hasty, but I'm struggling at finding a crinoid that compares well to this specimen. The cross shape is odd, and the holes or "pores" are even odder. That is what led me to call this an Evactinopora. What is exposed of the specimen measures 2.9 inches in length. I checked many illustrative plates today in the The North American Crinoidea Camerata and I came up fruitless.
westcoast
Looks bryozoan to me, any chance of better focussed closer images of the pores? 1
crinus
I am leaning towards Evactinopora. It is not all that rare in the Burlington Lm. 1

This is the best I can get until I get home and get a chance to clean it up a little bit. It shows side views of two of the "rays". 1
